The competition was about to begin. The first leg started with the parents. When the whistle blew, Verian noticed that Heaton was in a neck-to-neck race with Carter as both of them led the other fathers in the race. Both fathers handed their children the baton at the same time.
Little Jelly Bean grabbed the baton and sprinted ahead toward the finish line with her short legs. She looked determined to win.
Tyler scoffed as he glanced at Little Jelly Bean while he ran.
Was Cherie really that desperate to be the champion?
Tyler was initially in the lead. However, when he looked back at Little Jelly Bean, he could not bring himself to win.
If he had actually won, the little crybaby would have wailed her lungs out!
Tyler shook his head; he decided to let her win!
His mother was right, he was a man, and a man should allow a lady to win.
When Little Jelly Bean noticed Tyler had slowed down, she immediately sprinted ahead of him and toward the finish line. The little rascal was ecstatic.
Yay! She finally won against that little meanie, Tyler!
Both fathers were stunned by what they saw.
Carter squinted his dark eyes as he told Heaton, "It seems like my son has a crush on your daughter."
Heaton replied with a smug look on his face, "Of course, everyone loves my daughter."
Carter scoffed. "Show off."
When Little Jelly Bean ran toward him, she bolted straight into Heaton's arms as she said, "Daddy, I'm the champion! Am I awesome or what!"
The little rascal beamed as she hugged Heaton's neck. Her flustered little face looked proud.
Heaton lowered his head and kissed his daughter's face. He said, "Our Jelly Bean is the best!"
When Tyler went to his dad, Carter glared at his son before he said in a calm voice, "Next time, try not to be so obvious when you're letting her win. Do you think she'd appreciate the favor if you lose so obviously like that?"
Tyler was speechless.
His father had noticed it!
When Carter walked to the bleachers, Tyler rushed over to him and asked, "Dad, how'd you pursued mom back then?"
'Dad's sure amazing in getting the girl! They've been married for three years, and yet mom still worships him like his biggest fan. There are even pink hearts from her eyes when she's staring at dad!' Tyler thought to himself.
Carter looked at his son and asked, "You really want to know?"
Tyler nodded.
There was a glint in Carter's eyes as he said, "I'll let you know if you don't knock on our door at night for a month."
Tyler was speechless.
Did his father assume he had no idea what they were up to because he was a child?
His father had been secretly making a little sister or brother for him every night behind his back!
If he got a younger sibling, would that mean he would lose their love?
Well, his position at home was relatively low even before he had a little brother or sister. If he had one, then it would surely affect his already low status.
"Fine, don't tell me then! I'll ask mommy!"
Tyler ran up to the bleachers.
Verian and Helen noticed the children were utterly drenched in sweat. They used a tissue to wipe the children's sweat.
Heaton leaned toward his wife as he pointed at his forehead with his long slender fingers. "Madam Fudd, I'm sweating too."
Verian scanned his forehead and said, "There's no sweat on it."
Heaton immediately grabbed her hand and said, "Who told you there's no sweat?"
Verian felt helpless, but she started to wipe his forehead for him.
How old was that man anyway? He was not Little Jelly Bean anyway.
Carter also leaned toward Helen and said, "Honey, I'm sweating too."
Little Jelly Bean frowned as she looked at Heaton's phone that was placed on the table to see her reflection. The little rascal grew frantic. "Monty… Help me wipe it off!"
Verian wiped her mouth with a wet tissue as the little rascal stuck her tongue out to lick the ketchup from the edges of her lips.
After Verian wiped Little Jelly Bean's mouth, Tyler squeezed some ketchup on his hand and wiped it on Little Jelly Bean's tender little face.
"Cherie, you're dirty again!" He laughed.
Little Jelly Bean scoffed at him. "I don't want to play with you anymore!"
Both children were messing with each other. After they were done eating, they went to the slide in KFC's play area.
Her children had no classes in the evening. The school day was over after the sporting event.
They coincidentally passed by the entrance of North City University in the evening. Since everyone had nothing to do, and that happened to be Verian's old campus, all four adults brought the children there to take a look.
The signs of early summer filled the campus as lush greenery surrounded the area. There were sounds of people playing basketball and cheering from the side.
It was in all women's nature to look at handsome men, especially attractive basketball players.
Verian and Helen brought Little Jelly Bean to look at the basketball court through the metal fence. They held onto the fence's metal wires with both hands as they stared at the handsome basketball players.
Little Jelly Bean said, "Whoa, Monty! Look! That guy looks really handsome!"
Verian said, "Helen, doesn't that guy look like one of the most attractive boys back in our day?"
Helen replied, "Good lord! He does! How handsome!"
The two men and the boy stood behind the trio speechlessly.
Tyler curiously glanced at the basketball player and said, "Daddy, Uncle Heaton, I don't think those men are as handsome as us."
A glimmer of light flashed across Carter's eyes as he looked at the women who were staring at the basketball court. "Your mom is fangirling again. I should take care of that."
Heaton's expression looked cold as he said, "Those boys at the court are horrible at basketball. Their postures looked awful."
Carter replied, "I agree."
