Stupefied, Serene could only stare blankly at the man in front of her. She opened her mouth and was about to answer when her phone rang.
The caller ID showed that it was her mother.
She was in a trance for a brief moment before picking up. Without even thinking about it, she knew that her mother had called to ask about her blind date with Joshua.
“Serene Ludd, what did you do to Joshua on the blind date? He came back and told his aunt that you lead a promiscuous life and are together with some thugs! You’ve grown bold, haven’t you? How dare you hit him?”
Serene frowned. Biting her lips, she said, “He’s the one who’s crazy.”
“No matter how crazy he is, you shouldn’t have beaten him up!”
Wilson heard the voice on the other end of the phone. He immediately grabbed it from her hand and said, “Auntie, I’m the one who beat him up. It’s not Serene’s fault.”
Serene’s mother was stunned. “Are you Chainey?”
However, something was not right. She spoke to Chainey on the phone a few days back but his voice sounded somewhat different now.
What was going on?
Serene stood up, took her phone back, and said, “Mum, I’ll explain everything to you when I’m home!”
She immediately hung up after she was done talking.
Serene stood on the bed and glared at him angrily. “Mind your own business!”
Wilson looked at her. “Do you really have to talk to me like that?”
How were they supposed to talk then?
They were no longer together, right?
Sere gulped and said, “I’m begging you. Stop looking for me. I don’t want to be the other woman who destroys someone else’s marriage.”
“What if I tell you I’ll divorce Ruby? It’s only a matter of time.”
It seemed like his girl was jealous.
That was the first time he had seen Serene getting jealous over a girl in front of him.
Wilson’s heart ached yet at that moment, he felt like this was something worth dealing with. At least, he was starting to make an impact on her. After all, did it not mean that he was actually taking up a place in her heart?
“If Ruby ever comes looking for you, you must tell me.”
The girl’s frown deepened. Insecure, she looked at Wilson and asked hesitantly, “Are you guys really just pretending to be a married couple?”
“Yes, I‘ve never had any feelings for her.”
“But I don’t believe you.” Serene muttered with her head hanging down. The more she behaved that way, the more Wilson thought she looked cute. His desire grew deeper in that moment.
However, she had yet to open up her heart to him. It was not appropriate to do that.
