Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 399

Verian almost drowned in boredom. She munched on an apple as she sat on a chair and read about the history behind the hundred-year marriage rule in Ireland on her phone.

However, she learned that Ireland had removed that law in 1996. The hundred years of marriage rule had never existed, but there were laws in Ireland that could prevent a divorce.

Verian felt even more curious. When she dug deeper, many people claimed that it was merely a rumor.

She was still puzzled when Heaton returned to the room.

"Open up, Riana."

Verian put her phone down and rushed to open the door. The moment she opened the door, she noticed Heaton had a take out box in his hand.

Verian took a closer look as she asked, "What did you buy?"

She could smell the delicious aroma through the box.

Heaton entered the room and hugged her. He said, "Pickled fish."

Verian grew excited as she said, "Ah… it's pickled fish! Where did you buy it? Dublin has pickled fish?"

She had been restless last night and spent the entire night mumbling about pickled fish. Perhaps she craved it because of her pregnancy. She wanted some sweet and sour food. It seemed like her palate had grown more complex. However, Ireland was nothing like their country, and good snacks were very hard to come by. Hence, she had it back.

Heaton handed her the box of pickled fish. Then she placed it on the table, and it did not take long for her to open it before a delicious scent took over the room.

"This smells amazing! Heaton, I want to eat it now!"

Heaton joined her as he said, "I searched for it on my phone for a really long time. Kush and I went to several Chinatowns around here."

Verian was speechless.

She picked up her chopsticks as her heart warmed. Even her eyes had begun to tear.

Simple statements like those could easily warm her heart.

He could not see anything, and yet he went to so many different places just to get her a box of pickled fish?

As Verian ate some of the pickles, it tasted sweet to her even though they were supposed to be sour.

Heaton asked, "How's the taste? I'm not sure if it's authentic or not."

Verian did not think it was anything too praiseworthy. It could barely compare to the pickled fish back in North City.

However, she beamed as she said, "This is the best pickled fish I have ever tasted."

Heaton chuckled as he patted her head while he undid his necktie with his other hand. He could finally relax.

Verian asked as she ate, "Aren't you eating?"

"I don't like it. You go on ahead."

Verian did not force him to eat since Heaton had always been uninterested in pickles and hotpot.

"Oh, that's right. How did your business meeting go today?"

"Pretty well. I told Kush to book our tickets back to North City for tomorrow."

"That's nice. I'm not sure if Serene and Dr. Jarret had already left Italy or not."

Heaton replied, "They've already left Italy. Wilson called me today."

Verian nodded as she looked at the phone and suddenly recalled what she had learned online that day. She said, "Oh, right. The Internet users found my WeChat username."

The man raised his brows and said, "They attacked you already?"

Verian thought she could pull his legs for once. "Yeah, they have. Violently too. They said that I'm not attractive, unworthy of you, or something like that, a man as good as you is wasted on me. They said a lot mean things."

"I'll have Kush block all of the accounts that insulted you when we get back."

"But there are so many accounts, are you sure you could block all of them?"

Heaton raised his eyebrows as he said, "Are you saying that the IT department in Fudd Group is incompetent?"

Oh, that was right. How could she forget that her husband was a major powerhouse in that field? Blocking those accounts would be a cakewalk for him.

Verian squinted her eyes as she stared at his concerned look. Then she laughed and said, "Hubby…"

Heaton frowned deeper as he raised his hand to feel her forehead. He said, "Is the pickled fish poisoned?"

She also disliked working out.

Heaton tried to reason with her in a gentle voice. "You're unwilling to grow fatter, and you're also unwilling to eat less. What can you do about it then?"

"Will you still want me if I'm fat?"

"I can't even see anything."

The corners of Verian's lips twitched. "Come on, answer my question seriously!"

The man lowered his head as he whispered into her ear. "It'll feel good to touch you if you're fat."

Verian was annoyed with him.

"I think you've grown slightly fatter now too."

Verian was speechless, and she was very annoyed.

Verian had only sat in his lap for a short while, but Heaton pinched her as he teased her. "You've grown significantly heavier. My legs already feel numb even though you've only sat on it for a short while."

Verian was furious about that. "I am only a hundred pounds! How is that heavy?"

She was 165 centimeters tall, and she weighed about 95 pounds before she got pregnant. She had an extremely slender body, even though she was not skinny. Her weight and height were balanced. She was busty in areas that should be busty and slim in areas that should be slim. She had excellent body ration. She had only gained five pounds, but the man had already started to complain even though he told her that he did not mind it.

"You're not heavy. Even if you weigh 120 pounds, I'll still be able to carry you."

After he said that, Heaton immediately carried her to the bed.

Verian reached out to tap his shoulder as she asked, "Oh, that's right. I have something to ask you!"

"Yes?"

"I found a lot of information about Irish marriages online. Many of them mentioned that the hundred-year marriage rule had never existed in Ireland. So how did we manage to do that?

"There are plenty of trolls online who talk about baseless facts. You don't need to care about them." The man sounded serious.

Verian felt odd, so she said, "Well, there are official government sites that claimed it was only a rumor. Ireland had gotten rid of that law in 1996."
