Verian hesitated when Yandel passed the DNA test results to her. She did not take the report, but she looked at him with caution.
"Mister, you…"
Yale, who stood behind Yandel, scratched his nose and chuckled. Then he teased her, "Ms. Mont, our second young master doesn't have any ill intentions. We're not bad people, so don't worry, there's no poison on these documents."
Verian felt a little embarrassed. She frowned as she took the documents because she felt odd about it. "What is this?"
"Let me introduce myself again. I'm Yandel Soan. When we met on the plane, I felt as if I was looking at my mother when she was younger. So, I placed a micro-tracker in your bag without your permission. It turns out my instinct is right; you're indeed my biological younger sister."
It was only a few words, but the news came like a bolt out of the blue.
Verian was dumbfounded. She thought that it was all a joke. "Mr. Soan, is this a joke?"
What was up with her luck? Why did so many people want to claim her as their relative?
John Fudd was the first person to claim that she was his daughter. Then, an elder brother had appeared out of nowhere.
Whose daughter was she?
Yandel raised his chin and gestured to her. "If you don't believe me, you can open the envelope and have a look at the report."
Verian furrowed her brows as she took the report out of the envelope. She scanned through it quickly, but it was clear. The report concluded that Yannis Gaunt and Verian Mont were biologically related; they were mother and daughter.
"Yannis Gaunt is…"
"Yannis Gaunt is my mother's name. Of course, she's your mother too."
"..."
Verian could not digest the sudden piece of news. She was stunned, so she stood rooted to the spot.
Yandel tried to comfort her. "This is probably too sudden for you to accept it now. It's okay. I'll be in Florence for the next couple of days, so you'll have some time to digest it. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call."
Yandel Soan gave her his name card.
Verian kept the card in her hand, but she had mixed feelings about the news.
"But… but it's impossible. Mr. Soan, could there be any mistake with this report?"
Yandel held her gaze and answered, "The chances of that are very low, almost zero."
"But it's impossible. Someone else has claimed that I'm his biological daughter too. We did a DNA test, and the results did show that I'm his biological daughter. My mother is also his first love. And now you claim that I'm your younger sister…"
Verian was confused. Who should she believe?
When Yandel saw her confused look, he suggested, "If you don't believe me, I can ask the lab to do the DNA test again. You can view the entire process if you don't feel at ease about it."
Even if the man wanted to con her, Verian did not understand what he would gain from her.
Besides, Verian had a great perception of people. She could tell that the man in front of her had a good temperament. He might not be a good person, but he could not be evil too.
From his appearance, Verian deduced that he was similar to Heaton. He was probably a business elite as well. The watch on his wrist looked like it was worth a million bucks. Verian had no reason to associate him with bad people like human traffickers or swindlers.
However, if Yandel did not lie to her, then what about John's DNA report?
"Of course, she will feel shocked when someone suddenly popped up and claimed to be her relative. But it'll be fine. I still need to search for Leannie in Florence. She can think about it while I do that. By the way, Jean Well probably knew that we're here to search for Rainie. Send some people to protect her. Discreetly."
"Yes, Second Young Master. We should warn her about Jean when we're back in South City. Whoever dares to lay a hand on Second Young Miss must be sick of living."
As Yandel thought about the trivial matters in South City, he pinched the bridge of his nose. "How is my mother?"
"The hospital called today and mentioned that Madam's condition has worsened. She needs a suitable donor for the hematopoietic stem cells. Second Young Master, do you think... Even though the young lady is a descendent of the Soan family, she was not raised there. Do you think she will help Madam now that we've found her?"
Yandel closed his eyes and sighed. "I will not let my mother die from this."
"Second Young Master, don't get too worried about it. From her temperament, she’ll probably help us. Besides, donating hematopoietic stem cells does not harm her body. There's no reason for her not to donate to her biological mother, right? In addition to that, the Soan family did not abandon her. If she's a sensible person, she won't blame Madam or you."
Yandel massaged his temples. "Let's talk about this when we're back in South City. Any news on Leannie?"
"Oh, Ms. Xylean is working part-time in a private art gallery at Florence city center.
Yandel huffed in disdain. "She can work part-time to feed herself now, huh?"
"Second Young Master, are we picking up Ms. Xylean now?"
"No hurry. What time does she get off work?"
"Half-past five."
Yandel glanced at his watch. It was only half-past three. "Let's go to the hospital to do the DNA test again."
"Noted, Second Young Master."
