Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 306

Chinese New Year was around the corner. Finally, Verian and Heaton were discharged from the hospital after living there for over half a month.

James came to the hospital on the day Verian was discharged.

Heaton's gaze turned cold as soon as he laid eyes on James. However, he turned back to normal soon after.

James knew that should not have been there, yet he smiled and said, "Verian visited me a few times when I was admitted last time. Therefore, I'm here to visit both of you since you’re now getting discharged."

Verian had never been a pensive person. Moreover, James sounded very reasonable. She would never have thought that James was being nice to her for his own reasons.

She merely thought that her uncle was being kind to her like an old friend.

"Uncle, you're not feeling well. Thank you so much for visiting Heaton and I on such a cold day."

Even John did not visit them as often as James.

Therefore, it was normal for Verian to feel especially grateful to him.

Kush drove the car to the hospital’s entrance. Heaton's arm circled Verian's waist as he walked her to the car. Verian got in but it seemed like Heaton had no intention of entering with her.

Verian asked, "Aren't you coming in?"

"Wait for me in the car. I have something to discuss with uncle."

Verian nodded her head.

Heaton got into James' black Lincoln.

Both of them were sitting at the back of the car. James pursed his lips and took out a brown paper bag. He passed the bag to Heaton.

"The DNA results are back."

Heaton's gaze was fixed on the paper bag for quite some time. He did not take it.

James sighed, "If you don't want to see it..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Heaton reached out for the paper bag.

He wanted to see it with his own eyes.

He swiftly opened the paper bag. He tore it open with his agile fingers and took out the DNA report. His eyes darkened and trembled violently as his gaze fell on the last column on the report. It showed that their DNA was 99.9 percent identical, proving his paternity.

His fingers which were holding the report started to tremble.

He stared at the report for a very long time until his palms started to sweat.

Finally, James spoke, "I told you I was sure that Verian’s my daughter. However, don't worry. I’ll keep this a secret until the end."

Heaton kept silent for a few moments. He then spoke in a tone cold like ice, no fluctuations or emotions, "Who else knows about this?"

"Other than me, only your aunt knows about this."

Heaton's grip on the report loosened and his jaw tightened. Then, he pursed his lips and got out of the car.

He went back to his black Bentley and ordered the driver, "Drive home."

Noticing the look on his face, Verian asked in a soft voice, "Why does it seem like you're always in a bad mood after talking to Second Uncle these few days?"

"We were talking about business."

Verian stopped probing further after hearing the word 'business'.

The black Bentley stopped when they reached the hospital’s entrance. The windows of the car lowered.

The security guard smiled as he saw Heaton. "Hello, Mr. Fudd."

Heaton handed him a carton of limited-edition Yellow Crane Tower cigarettes. The guard's smile grew wider as he saw the cigarettes. "Mr. Fudd, these are expensive cigarettes. One packet is more than enough for me. What I gave you the other day was merely a packet of Northport."

"Take it."

"Well, thank you then."

The black Bentley drove out of the hospital. Verian leaned over and said, "What a loser."

“Do I look that ordinary?”

All women loved to hear good things. Even though they might be lies, they still wanted to hear it.

Verian glumly tossed her book aside and went to sleep.

Heaton grabbed her slender ankles and pulled her petite body into his embrace.

Verian was shocked. “What are you doing?”

Heaton pressed his thin lips against her temples. He spoke in his hoarse voice, “But I’ve never seen a woman prettier than you.”

He might never ever meet a woman prettier than her even in the future.

Verian was slightly stunned. She then realized he was whispering sweet nothings to her and laughed. “Who would whisper something like that to women?”

The man looked at her solemnly. “It’s said that the effect will double if I criticize someone before complimenting them.”

Verian felt both angry and funny at the same time. “Who taught you such a lame way to talk to girls!”

Heaton kissed her tiny face and earlobes. His hot breath tickled her. “I learned it by myself…”

His hot breath tickled Verian’s ears. She shrunk her neck as she kept on “educating” him. “I don’t like the way you talked to me. It hurts my confidence…”

“What would you like to hear then?”

“You’re supposed to say that I’ve always been beautiful and am prettier than others in your heart.”

Heaton laughed slightly, still kissing her. He teased her again, “Telling one lie is already bad enough. Now you want me to tell two lies at the same time? Riana, don’t you think you’re asking for too much?”

Verian nearly vomited blood. The feminine side within her disappeared immediately.

Was he trying to say that she was not the prettiest girl in his heart?

She was embarrassed.
