Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 279

Verian had a surprised look when she stared at the man in front of her. Was he lying just to be close to her?

“I... I’m telling you, I won’t allow you to take control of Heaton’s body and make him never appear ever again just because of what you said…”

Zion inched closer to her. He looked disappointed and depressed as he said, “Can we not talk about him now?”

Verian was speechless and puzzled. If they did not talk about Heaton then she had nothing to say to him!

However, when she noticed the sad look in Zion’s eyes, she could not bring herself to do it.

“I know you don’t believe me and the fact that we’ve met more than once ten years ago.”

Verian stared at him with a skeptical look for a moment and noticed he did not seem to be lying, so she asked, “If we’ve actually met before, why don’t I remember you?”

Ten years ago, she was only fourteen and Heaton was twenty-two.

Twenty-two years old? Was that not the year when Heaton had a drastic change in behavior?

Zion might have manifested at that point of time.

“You mentioned we’ve met twice, so where exactly have we met?”

Zion stared at her and said, “Are you waiting for me to tell you everything? Even when I do, wouldn’t I completely lose any form of value to you?”

Verian was speechless.

“Do you really love Heaton that much?”

Verian answered confidently, “I am Heaton’s wife so of course I love him.”

“But I was the first person to meet you.”

Verian was stunned for a second before her phone rang. It was from Xyla.

She took a look at Zion and after hesitating for a moment, she picked up the call.

“What are you calling me for?”

Verian sounded cold however, Xyla chuckled and said, “I only want to meet up with you. Is there really a need for you to act so hostile toward me?”

She scoffed, “Miss Xyla, there’s nothing to talk about between both of us, so there’s no need for us to meet up.”

“Since you’re unwilling to meet up then I guess I’ll have to reveal Heaton’s schizophrenia to the whole world. Don’t blame me for being ruthless then.”

“Xyla!”

Xyla was calm since she had leverage over Verian. She said, “I will be waiting for you at Astral Bar in Citizen’s Park.”

She hung up after she was done speaking

Verian looked at Zion who was beside her and said, “I’m heading out now. Don’t follow me.”

However, Zion still followed her around. Verian was completely speechless as she said, “I’m begging you, please stop following me.”

In case Xyla noticed Zion, it would have further proved Heaton’s schizophrenia.

“I will send you there and I’ll not follow you inside.”

Verian was skeptical as she said, “Really?”

Zion replied with a simple, “Yeah.”

After Zion drove Verian to the entrance of Citizen’s Park, Verian told him again, “Wait for me in the car and don’t come in.”

After telling him that, she got out and entered the Astral Bar.

The instant she entered, she noticed Xyla drinking coffee.

Xyla simply glanced at Verian then spoke with a calm smile, “I knew you would come.”

“What exactly do you want, Xyla? You dumped Heaton back then so how could you still shamelessly threaten me just to hurt Heaton?”

“I don’t mean to hurt Heaton but you were persistent so I had no choice.”

Verian raised her brows and said, “What do you mean?”

Zion was grabbing Xyla’s wrist so hard that cracking sounds could be heard. He did not seem to be letting go.

Verian assumed Zion was gentle but she never expected Zion to have a menacing side too as he looked like he was about to murder Xyla with his menacing gaze.

Verian was worried something bad would happen and she was also worried about Xyla realizing that there was something odd about him. Hence, she tugged Zion’s hand and said, “Alright, forget it. Let’s not stoop to her level and head home.”

It was only then did Zion slowly release her wrist. He left her a cold warning, “If you dare think about doing anything else, I will cripple your arm.”

Xyla’s face turned pale. She stood frozen and was completely terrified.

Verian pulled Zion away and hastily left the Astral Bar.

Zion was staring at her hand as she held onto his throughout the walk. He grinned.

When they were almost in their car, Zion suddenly stopped and pulled her into him.

Verian’s face was buried in his chest.

“Zion…?”

“If I appeared sooner in your life, would you have fallen in love with me?”

Verian was stunned. After not getting an answer out of her, Zion let out a self-mocking chuckle. He lowered his head to look at her and said, “I know you want him to return but can you only shoo me away after my birthday?”

Verian was curious. “After your birthday? Don’t you share the same birthday as Heaton’s?”

“Of course not.”

Verian asked, “Then… when’s your birthday?”

“The day after tomorrow. Celebrate it with me, okay?”

Verian’s heart melted when she noticed how sincere Zion’s gaze was. She said, “Alright, but you must keep your word. You must allow Heaton to return after I spend your birthday with you.”

Zion chuckled bitterly and said, “The person that can bring Heaton back isn’t me, it’s you.”
