Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 259

After Verian took Little Jelly Bean out of the Fudd family home, she felt slightly relieved leaving Xavier.

After dropping Little Jelly Bean off at the kindergarten, Verian gave Wilson a call.

“Dr. Jarret, Xavier came back to the Fudd family home. He used Heaton’s identity to return and no one else from the Fudd family knew about his identity.”

Wilson replied, “Xavier was betting on the fact that you don’t dare to expose his identity. His purpose of returning is to replace Heaton. What’s going to be your next move?”

Verian took a deep breath and shook her head gently. “I don’t know what to do. Everything is a mess to me.”

“I’ll pick him up from the Fudd Group this evening. I’ll try to awaken his consciousness using hypnosis.”

“Truly, thank you, Dr. Jarret.”

“Don’t worry about it. It’s my duty since I’m Heaton’s best friend.”

After the phone call ended, Verian strolled up the street alone. As she walked by a wedding dress store, she stood outside the display window and stared at the wedding gowns inside. She felt slightly perplexed by it.

Just as she was about to turn around and leave depressingly, she noticed a familiar silhouette through the reflection on the glass pane.

Verian raised her brows and turned around, “Jensen? What are you doing here?”

Jensen chuckled and replied, “I thought we won’t ever meet again in our lifetime. Verian, it’s been a while, you’ve lost weight.”

“You came back to North City?”

“Yeah, I saw the news about Heaton’s crash into the sea. I was worried that you might do something drastic by being too depressed. The truth is, I’ve already returned to North City for a few days now and since then, I’ve also been following you around for a few days now…”

Verian’s brows twitched as she said, “You… you were following me around for a few days now?”

Jensen… would he have also known about Xavier’s existence?

“Yeah, I noticed Heaton has come back but… he seemed a little cold toward you? Are you okay, Verian?”

Judging from the looks of things, Jensen seemed completely clueless so Verian relaxed. She said, “I’m good. What about you, how are you doing?”

“I missed you dearly and I thought that I will never return to North City ever again but I realized that I couldn’t help myself from coming back to see you.”

“Jensen…”

Jensen interrupted her and said, “Verian, I know that we can never return to the way we were before but I just wanted to make sure that you’re doing alright.”

She smiled. What could he possibly do after he made sure if she was doing fine or not. It did not matter if she was doing fine or not since she would never go back to him and start over.

“I’m going home.”

Jensen frantically said, “Verian, do we not even have the chance to sit down for a coffee and talk?”

In the president’s office of the Fudd Group.

Xavier received a few high definition pictures of Verian having a date with another man.

Xavier grinned as he thought just how interesting Verian was. Here she was obsessed and so in love with Heaton and now she was having a date with another man.

Kush entered and said, “Boss, the chairman wants you to drop by his office.”

Xavier gave a calm reply, got up and made his way over to John’s office.

When he arrived at John’s office, both of them had a brief conversation about work.

Xavier said, “Dad, I’m not sure if you realized something odd with Verian recently.”

John was puzzled as he said, “Odd? Could this be a side effect of her pregnancy?”

“Not that, but after I came back, I realized Verian was cold toward me and last night, she slept with Little Jelly Bean. We didn’t even have a brief conversation together.”

Wilson laid him down on the chair and began his procedure.

After half an hour, Wilson successfully hypnotized Xavier. He closed his eyes and drifted back into the realms of his memories.

“What do you see, Heaton?”

Verian wanted to call out to him but she was worried of interfering with Wilson’s procedure, so all she could do was cover her mouth and watch as her eyes turned red.

The man who had his eyes shut whilst lying on the chair slowly began to speak, “Sam fell into the sea, and I wanted to save her but Yanni and I both looked for her for a really long time to no avail… It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have brought Sam to Regent Island…”

“Sam’s death isn’t your fault. You have no idea the weather would be that horrible that day.”

Two hours had gone by but Heaton’s consciousness still remained in his twenty-two year old mind.

Wilson stopped the procedure and the man who was under hypnosis passed out.

“Dr. Jarret, will it be Heaton who wakes up later?”

Wilson shook his head and said, “Heaton’s memories had stayed within the year of Sam’s death and it was also when he was twenty-two. Xavier manifested at that point.”

“Does it mean that Heaton had fallen into the guilt he felt for Sam back then hence, he created the personality of Xavier in order to murder himself?”

“Precisely. He is now trapped in his own guilt and we have to think of a way for him to forgive himself.”

Verian looked at the unconscious man while frowning. She said, “But, Sam is still alive, so why can’t he forgive himself?”

“When a person’s guilt is rooted deeply into one’s mind, it’ll be very difficult to completely unroot it. Perhaps Xavier would’ve never manifested if that accident never happened. Crashing into the sea was similar to Sam’s death back then. Therefore, this might be a major trigger to his injured state.”

Wilson raised his brows since this entire incident was too much of a coincidence. He said, “Could Heaton’s car crash not be an accident?”

Verian’s heart trembled as she recalled the scene from back then. She said, “On Christmas morning, Heaton was on his way to work at Fudd Group. He left for his office from the Shallow Bay mansion, so he will never have driven by the Bolte Sea Bridge. Why did Heaton suddenly go to the Bolte Sea Bridge?”
