Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 241

Under the shroud of night, the Bolte Sea Bridge was faintly illuminated by the dim, yellow street lamps. The cold sea breeze blew, the chill biting deep into Verian’s neck.

She stood on the bridge while looking at the sea’s calm and endless surface. Finally, she could no longer keep her emotions suppressed as she yelled out toward it.

“Heaton Fudd! Heaton! I’m still waiting for you to come back! Hurry up and come back…”

Her shouting sounded hoarse and dry as she sobbed.

The early winter sea breeze felt like sharp knives slicing painfully against her cheeks. The instant her warm tears rolled down her cheeks, they cooled.

With her blurry vision, she stared toward the sea’s surface while she stood on top of the bridge.

“Heaton… Where are you?”

Old Lewis was standing on the side as he watched her.

His phone rang and it was from the Fudd family home.

Old Lewis picked up the call. “Hello, master?”

“Watch over the young mistress, I’m worried she might do something foolish.”

“Yes. Don’t worry, master. I’ll make sure nothing happens to the young mistress.”

After the phone call ended, Old Lewis took a blanket out from the car, walked over to Verian, and handed it to her.

“Young mistress, the sea breeze is really strong and you’re not wearing enough layers. Use this blanket to keep yourself warm so you don’t catch a cold.”

Tears were rolling out of Verian’s eyes uncontrollably. She slowly turned around to look at Old Lewis and asked while biting her lips, “Say, if Heaton is still under the sea, would it be cold for him?”

Old Lewis was stunned. He said, “Well… Young mistress… Perhaps young master has already…”

“So, you guys are actually telling me that Heaton’s dead, right?”

“Young mistress, you’re still pregnant so please take care of yourself.”

As Verian wailed her lungs out, she suddenly started laughing. “So you guys actually think Heaton’s already dead?”

It was over ten hours now. How could anyone still be alive after an accident that caused him to fall into the sea.

The only thing was that Old Lewis did not have the heart to tell Verian that.

Verian looked at the sea and said, “As long as I don’t see his corpse, there’s a possibility he might still be alive. He promised me that he’d come home earlier tonight.”

Old Lewis pouted his lips as his eyes started to tear up.

Verian clutched onto the rails with both hands and yelled out into the sea, “Listen here, Heaton Fudd! I will always be waiting for you to come home!”

In the Blue Precture Villa.

Lucy was in deep sleep while her forehead was covered in sweat.

Yanni hugged her as he spoke in a soft tone, “Wake up, Sammie. Sammie?”

“Ah…!”

Lucy was startled awake. She stared at Yanni, terrified.

Yanni softly said, “What’s wrong? A nightmare?”

Lucy buried herself into Yanni while hugging his chest tightly in her terrified state. She said, “I… I dreamt that I murdered someone…”

“No way, my Sammie is such a kind-hearted soul. How could she possibly murder someone? Don’t overthink things.”

Yanni grabbed her hand, placed it by his lips, and kissed it.

“Are you hungry? I’ll have the maids cook you some supper.”

While he spoke and just as was about to leave, Lucy grabbed his sleeve and said, “Please don’t go, Yanni. I’m afraid.”

Once again, Yanni sat next to her. He hugged her and said, “Don’t be afraid, I’m not going anywhere.”

He took a few pieces of tissues and wiped away the sweat on her forehead. His huge hand gently patted her back. Upon noticing just how dependent of him she was, he felt quite happy.

“Sammie, you seem to be depending on me even more than you used to.”

Lucy was speechless.

Yanni chuckled and said, “I am glad you’re this dependent on me.”

“If… I’m saying what if that one day, you found out that I’m different from your imagination, would you hate me?”

The man stared intensely at her and said, “No matter how you’ve changed, you’ll still be my Sammie. I want nothing more than to love you so how could I hate you?”

Yanni reached out to help fix her messy, sweat-stained hair. Lucy stared intently at her, touched by his gestures.

“Oh that’s right, there’s something that I should tell you.”

“What is it?”

Yanni said, “Heaton’s accident today. He crashed into the sea with his car but his body still has not been found.”

Lucy felt horrible chills all over her body while her heart pounded incredibly fast.

Did this mean that Heaton was actually dead?

She was completely unfocused as she said, “How-how did it happen?”

Yanni raised his brows and said, “Perhaps it was some enemy he made in the market, but I can’t think of anyone bold enough to do that.”

While looking at him, Lucy asked cautiously, “Would you…be sad, now that Heaton is dead?”

Yanni suddenly laughed and teasingly said, “I lost you once because of him and wanted nothing more than to destroy him completely. Even if he’s dead a thousand times over, it wouldn’t be enough for me. Now however, after receiving news about his accident, I somehow can’t feel happy about it. I suddenly recall the memories of our friendship back then. It makes me feel empty to know he’s dead.”

“Is he really dead?” Lucy mumbled.

“More than ten hours has passed and his body still hasn't been found. The possibility of his survival is very low. Perhaps a huge change is going to happen in the Fudd Group in the nearby future.”

Lucy closed her eyes as her chest felt tight. She assumed she would feel ecstatic having gotten revenge. However, not only did she not feel as satisfied as she imagined, there was now something heavy pressing against her.

“There isn’t much to say. When I fell into the sea, I was saved by local fishermen but because I bumped my head on a reef, I lost my memory. I survived in a small fishing village for some time but was starting to remember some things and came back. Then, I spent some time at home and my grandma told me that I used to study in North City University. I thought that if I made my way to North City, some people might actually recognize me and perhaps, I might recover some of my past memories. Then coincidentally, I came to know Dr. Heidy and you know what happens after that.”

Although Lucy had just skimmed through the details, Yanni’s heart trembled.

He hugged her tightly, sighing as he said, “Sammie, I swear to you that I’ll never make you leave me ever again in the future. I’ll make sure no harm will ever come to you.”

Lucy unknowingly reached out and hugged his waist.

When Lucy was eating her porridge at the table, Yanni took out a bank card from his room and handed it over to her.

“I’ve made this card for you when you returned, but I kept forgetting to give it to you. The pin is your birthdate.”

Yanni treated her way too well. This man was actually spoiling her like his own daughter.

“There’s a million in it, but I’ll transfer the money to you with my computer later. If you need money next time, just ask. Sammie, you can take the money and not borrow it from me. The money I make is yours to spend.”

The man's huge hand patted her hair.

Lucy stared at the card before she pouted her lips and said, “Not even my parents treat me this well.”

“Then, allow me to be the one who spoils you the most.”

When Verian returned from Bolte Sea Bridge to the Fudd family mansion, it was already late at night.

Her eyes were red and puffy.

Little Jelly Bean and the old man could be heard from the living room.

“Be a good girl, Jelly Bean. Hurry up and go to sleep now. You have school tomorrow and it’s very late now.”

The little rascal frowned and it was rare for her to act so disobediently. She said, “No, grandpa, I want to wait for Monty to come back. Where did Monty go!”

When Verian entered the house, Little Jelly Bean immediately called out to her. “Monty!”

The little rascal rushed down from the couch toward Verian. She hugged Verian’s leg with her tiny hands.

“Hmph, where’d you go! Why didn’t you come back when it’s so late now! What would you do if the bad people catch you!”

Verian sniffled as she squatted and grabbed onto Little Jelly Bean’s tiny hand. Her voice sounded hoarse as she forced a smile from the corner of her lips. “I’m back now, aren’t I? Why don’t you sleep with me tonight, Jelly Bean?”

“Alright! It’s rare for daddy to not be home!”

Upon mentioning Heaton, Verian’s tears rolled down uncontrollably.

Little Jelly Bean looked at her with a puzzled look. She said, “What’s wrong, Monty?”

“Nothing, the wind’s too strong outside so it hurts my eyes.”

John walked over with his walking stick and said, “Hurry up and bring Little Jelly Bean up to sleep. It’s late now so we’ll talk tomorrow if there’s anything.”

Verian understood what the old man meant as she nodded and said, “Alright.”
