Heaton and Verian had lunch at a highway rest stop. The food was not that good at the highway rest stop. However, Verian noticed there were grilled sausages and other related food items being sold at the side of the rest stop. Upon smelling the delicious scent, Verian’s appetite returned.
When they got out of the restaurant, Verian’s eyes stared intently at the grilled sausages next to the box oven.
Heaton lowered his head and took a look at her. He said, “You wish to eat that?”
Verian nodded her head. “I haven’t had grilled sausages in a really long time now. I’ve always had these while I was still studying. I really wanna eat some right now.”
Originally, she wanted to buy two. However, Heaton refused to eat and Verian never forced him to. Besides, Heaton was never a fan of messy foods sold by the road anyway.
Heaton asked how much it would cost. The boss lady replied, “One piece for five bucks.”
When Heaton fished out a single hundred buck bill and handed it to the boss lady, she frowned and asked, “Do you have any change? Or perhaps, you can also pay by scanning the code.”
Heaton had never paid using his phone because to him, phone-based transactions were not safe. Fair point though, as Heaton literally sat in heaps of money and phone-based transactions actually had its risks.
Verian fished out her phone and said, “Let me do it.”
However, who would have expected that Heaton would immediately toss down a single hundred buck bill and tell the boss lady, “Give me twenty.”
The corner of the boss lady’s mouth twitched. Was he a distributor? How could he buy twenty pieces on the spot!
Heaton noticed the boss lady’s hesitation. He said, “What’s the matter? Not selling?”
“Sold, sold, sold! Let me give you twenty pieces right now!”
Verian was almost about to burst out laughing as she stood on the side. It seemed the boss lady had never seen anyone buy so many grilled sausages!
Eating a piece or two would be enough for food items like grilled sausages. However, whoever who ate twenty grilled sausages in one go would undoubtedly puke their guts out!
After three minutes, Heaton held onto a transparent plastic bag in his hand. There were nineteen grilled sausages in it since Verian was eating one in her hand.
Verian did not react to it as she asked while puzzled, “... Why can’t a man eat a piece of sausage out in the open?”
Had grilled sausages offended him?
Heaton stared intently at her and spoke in a very confident tone, “A woman would find joy from eating sausages. If a man were to eat sausages, that would be a sexual orientation problem.”
Verian was annoyed as she had no idea what he was talking about… She could not understand. Yes, she could not understand.
She was stunned for a good long while and briefly did not say a word. She did not continue eating the grilled sausage. The edge of the man’s lips cracked a grin. “Why aren’t you eating? If you don’t eat, it’ll get cold.”
Verian looked at that half eaten sausage for a brief moment. Suddenly…she lost her appetite to eat it.
Heaton did that intentionally!
He was usually such a serious man, how could he say something so inappropriate!
