In the lobby of a random hotel within S City.
The tour guide was telling every tour member, “Let’s all gather at the hotel lobby tomorrow morning at eight. We’ll depart to Regent Island after breakfast. Everyone, please remember to bring your luggage along. We’ll be staying at Regent Island tomorrow night.”
After the tour guide’s briefing, Verian went to look for some food near the hotel before returning to her hotel room.
She looked at her phone and saw that she had not received any text messages nor a single phone call from Heaton.
She laid on the hotel’s huge bed depressingly and opened up WeChat to look for Heaton’s profile. However, after searching for a good long while, she could not find Heaton’s WeChat profile.
After having an epiphany, she sat up from her bed.
Her fingers began sliding back and forth across her phone screen but after a triple to quadruple search, she still was unable to find Heaton’s WeChat profile!
Could she… possibly have had too much to drink last night and deleted Heaton’s WeChat profile in a fit of rage?
After pondering for a really long while, she finally recalled the exact scene of her deleting Heaton’s WeChat profile.
She had made a bet with Guin last night. They had bet if she was bold enough to delete the profile of the man she loved. When the alcohol had taken effect, she went ahead and deleted Heaton’s profile…
She buried her head into the blankets. She wanted to suffocate herself to death.
However, had she not already ‘broken up’ with Heaton? Why should she still mind at all about this. So much so, she was still hoping for Heaton to call or text her.
She switched on the television and randomly picked a channel. The screen was showing a three to four-year-old child participating in a singing and dancing competition. It was close to Little Jelly Bean’s age, which Verian start to miss Little Jelly Bean that she decided to just switch off the television. Ever since she called Little Jelly Bean back then, her phone and watches had seemed to have been confiscated by Heaton. She could no longer reach her.
While she was lost in her dazed thoughts, she somehow fell asleep while clutching her phone.
…
After Verian had breakfast the following morning, she went ahead to gather at the lobby with the tour guide. The tour group departed to Regent Island at eight sharp.
Regent Island was one of S City’s famous tourist spots. It was nicknamed, ‘Little Maldives’, so there were plenty of married couples who were on their honeymoon. Almost everyone in this tour group consisted of married couples who were all walking in pairs. Fortunately for her, she was not walking with this group on the island or else, she would be dead from staring at love all day, right?
It took the tour bus an hour to reach the docks. Verian boarded the boat with the group. After she entered the boat and had just gotten seated, a man sat next to her. When she looked up, she noticed it was a young man with a DSLR camera hanging around his neck. He was also wearing a white t-shirt.
The man smiled at her. “Is this seat taken?”
“Nope.”
“You’re in the same tour group as me, right? There are way too many couples in our group and shamefully, I’m a single man.”
Verian was stunned. Would this mean they were all shamefully following the group along?
“I’m also traveling alone but I wasn’t booked under that group because the plane tickets and accommodation were cheaper than when I booked it myself. When we arrive on the island, I won’t be joining the group.”
After that man heard that, he frantically said, “Me too, me too. You’re also traveling alone, right? Why don’t we pair up together?”
Verian was stunned for a moment. She thought it would be a good idea to have a travel buddy so she replied, “Alright.”
“I’m Zack Jones. And you are…?”
“Verian Mont.”
Both of them shook hands with one another.
Having Zack constantly chatting with her throughout the journey made it less boring. The sunlight flickered on the sea’s surface while ocean blue waves swept by some boats. The scenery looked impeccably beautiful.
Upon arriving on the island, both Verian and Zack excused themselves from the main group and began going about their personal activities. There were all kinds of surfing and snorkeling activities on the island. Since Zack’s photography skills were impressive, he took a few beautiful shots for her as Verian excitedly posted them in her social group.
Guin left a comment. “Yo, how is someone still able to take pictures of themselves when they’re traveling on their own? Confess, have you met someone!”
She picked up the call. “Assistant Kush? Why are you calling me…?”
Before she could finish, Kush frantically said, “Miss Mont, did boss contact you?”
Verian was puzzled, “Nope. He hasn’t contacted me at all.”
“Not good, a couple of boats that were heading to Regent Island were capsized and the boss had also boarded the boat in that hour. I’ve lost contact with him…”
Verian could not bear hearing the later parts of his statement as her face immediately turned pale. Even her hand that clutched onto her phone was shaking!
Heaton had come to Regent Island to look for her?
The reporter was still reporting the capsizing incident on the television. It buzzed in her ears as her mind grew empty. When she stood up, her legs were weak and she almost passed out. She mumbled, “Heaton… No, I have to go to look for Heaton…”
Zack held onto her. “Verian, what’s wrong? What happened?”
Both of Verian’s eyes turned red. “My boyfriend came to the island to look for me. He was also on the boat in that hour. I’m worried something has happened to him!”
Boyfriend? She had a boyfriend?
Zack was stunned as he immediately comforted her. “The victim reports are not out yet, right? Perhaps this storm is not that serious. Don’t worry first. Even if you wanted to sail out, not a single person would be willing to bring you out. You should calm down first.”
Verian hugged her head. How could she calm down? If anything actually happened to Heaton, how could she ever face Little Jelly Bean in the future?
If she had not come to Regent Island, Heaton would not have come to look for her and would never have encountered something like this!
Verian was sobbing as she rushed out of the restaurant. She desperately ran toward the docks.
She had to find Heaton. Heaton had to be absolutely fine...
