Yanny slept until noon before waking up.
Beside her, Shayne had already gotten up long ago.
Yanny put on her clothes and house slippers before going downstairs.
Before she even got downstairs, she could see Shayne’s open kitchen in a complete mess. From the way it looked, it would seem he was trying to burn the kitchen down.
Yanny could not resist mocking him, “Chef Jinn, are you trying to cook or destroy?”
Shayne touched his nose awkwardly. “Can’t you see I’m following the recipe? Who knew that holding a spatula would be harder than holding a gun?”
Pfft.
Right as Yanny approached him, she was pulled into Shayne’s embrace. “Did the noise of my kitchen destruction wake you up?”
He rested his chin on her shoulder, then affectionately kissed her on the neck.
“No, I slept too much. It’s about time.”
Shayne asked, “Are you hungry?”
“A little.”
Shayne said, “Why don’t I order some takeout? By the time I finish cooking, you’ll die of starvation.”
“Takeouts aren’t delicious. I’ll go wash up first. Later I’ll make some vegetable noodle soup for brunch.”
Shayne raised his hand and scratched his brows. “That won’t do. I can’t let a person having period pains like you cook. Why don’t you sit over there and teach me how to cook?”
Yanny said, “I’m afraid that I’ll end up doing it myself midway through the lecture.”
Shayne was speechless. Was he that useless?
After Yanny washed up, she drank a big cup of warm water and was later held in Shayne’s embrace while she taught him how to cook noodles.
“Cooking noodles is basically going on lazy mode. Once the water boils, just put in the dried noodles. After they’re cooked, you can just add some eggs and vegetables. When everything is cooked, then you can eat. You can also add some salt and seasoning to it later.”
Shayne added two teaspoons of salt. Yanny saw and remarked, “That’s too much salt. You just need a little. Other seasonings like soy sauce already have salt in them.”
Shayne was speechless. Forget it, he had no talent in cooking.
Shayen said, “Grandma called just now. I answered it for you. She already knew about us getting back together. She told us to go back to the Blue Water Residential Area for dinner tonight.”
“Then we won’t have to make dinner tonight.”
After a simple lunch, Shayne contacted the doctor and had him wait at the hospital.
Shayne held Yanny’s down jacket in his hand and draped it over her. At the entryway, he took her scarf off from the coat rack and placed it around her neck. The scarf was thick. Yanny’s small face was wrapped within it, showing only her forehead and eyes.
Yanny tugged at the scarf a few times. “Shayne, are you trying to suffocate me?”
“How can I bear to suffocate my wife? The wind is strong outside. Wrap it tightly. You can take it off once you get into the car.”
The yard had a thick layer of snow.
They have not melted.
Shayne did not request for someone to shovel them either.
At the door, Shayne squatted down before Yanny, then patted his shoulder saying, “Madam, get on.”
Yanny jumped onto his back, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. “Shayne, if you keep this up, I’ll turn into a child.”
Shayne supported her waist and pushed her up slightly. He laughed mischievously and said, “That’s not a bad thing. I’ll just have to be both a husband and a father.”
Yanny laid on his shoulder, smiling sweetly. She then leaned in close to his ear and teased, “Daddy.”
Shayne pinched her thigh. “You dare call out again?”
“I don’t.”
The man responded mischievously, “You’re already said it once. Say it again.”
The corner of Yanny’s mouth started twitching.
What kind of mindset was that?!
Both of them got in the car after some playful exchange.
The silver Bugatti accelerated, pushing past the thick layer of snow and headed away from the mansion.
“This homeopathy doctor was introduced to me by Wilson. He said that he came from a family of doctors that had done this for generations,” Shayne introduced this doctor to Yanny while he drove.
Yanny knew that he was afraid that she might be mentally stressed, therefore telling her to offer her some psychological support. However, she was not that fragile. “There are so many girls in this world. I’m not the only one going through period pains. A lot of girls will be plagued by period pains for their entire life as well. It’s not the end of the world.”
Shayne was stubborn. “I can’t intervene with the pain others suffer, nor do I care. However, I can’t just watch you suffering this excruciating pain. I don’t know if this doctor can work miracles, but we can continue looking for other treatments if this doesn’t work. If that doesn’t work either, we’ll just keep looking. There’s bound to be a miracle doctor that can cure you.”
At first, Yanny’s heart was feeling rather heavy. However, triggered by his words, she burst into fits of laughter, mocking him, “If the miracle doctor runs into you, that’s really like a scholar running into bandits. They’ll surely be trembling in fear.”
“It’s good that they fear me. Nowadays doctors don’t treat period pains as a condition. They would just perfunctorily prescribe something to get it to brush things off. It’s good that they know fear. Only then will they treat this seriously.”
Yanny thought about it. He had a point. “True.”
After arriving at the hospital, Shayne brought Yanny straight into the specialist consultation office.
Yanny thought it would be an old doctor, not expecting a young man in his twenties. He looked quite handsome too. From the looks alone she could tell that he was not the reliable type.
They took three syringes full of blood.
Shayne scowled deeply. The wrinkles on his brows could probably squash a fly.
After Yanny was done with the blood drawing, she rolled down her sleeves and joked, “I thought homeopathy would only take a quick examination and not need to draw blood. Who would’ve expected three syringes worth of blood to be taken?”
Shayne held onto Yanny’s arm that had her blood drawn from. His handsome face turned solemn and asked, “Did it hurt?”
“It wasn’t painful. It’s just like getting bitten by an ant.”
“Yanny, we don’t need children. There’s no need to risk having massive blood loss to bear a child. Even if the child was born, I’ll be disgusted.”
Shayne stared at her intently. His expression was serious and sincere.
Yanny laughed, comforting him, “Why are you so serious? I didn’t say that I want children. Since you don’t want children, so be it. I’m bearing them for you anyway.”
Shayne felt slightly uncomfortable. He held her tightly in his arms and said, “That was so much blood drawn from you. I feel sorry just looking at it. That’s only three syringes. If you’re really suffering massive blood loss during childbirth, I’ll probably break down before the child is born. I’m really terrified.”
Yanny placed her hand on his back and patted, comforting him, “Am I not alive and well in your arms? Although my body is not in top condition, I won’t die that easily.”
Shayne frowned. “What are you talking about? What’s all this talk about death? You’ll live a long life.”
Yanny’s lips curled and she responded gently, “I’ll spend the rest of my life with you.”
Shayne held her hand and subconsciously caressed the diamond ring on her ring finger, saying, “At any rate, other than having a child, I’ll listen to whatever you say.”
“I didn’t say I want children.”
Yanny could not hide her thoughts from Shayne. He said, “If you really don’t have that intention, then you wouldn’t have told Ben those conditions of yours in there earlier.”
Yanny knew that he was angry. She leaned into his chest and said, “I’m only thinking that if by that slim chance that I get pregnant, it wouldn’t be so bad. It’s just a little risky.”
“Just a little risky? Didn’t you hear what Ben said? There’s a high chance of stillbirth and massive blood loss. Moreover your current blood clotting efficiency is low. How can I not worry?”
Shayne was anxious. His entire face was filled with worry.
What was this whole bearing a child thing? Who instilled such a dangerous idea in her head?
‘Oh. Last week’s dinner at the Fudd’s. Was it Verian that talked her into it?”
“Yanny, I don’t have any expectations for children. However, I’m unwilling to have you take such a big risk to bear a child.”
Yanny looked at him straight in the eye, asking, “How unwilling?”
Shayne’s throat trembled. He was abnormally adamant on that matter. He said indifferently, “Very, very unwilling. I don’t care how others think or how many children their wives bear. My wife is much more precious than theirs. I forbid you from high risk matters, such as child bearing.”
