After returning to her country for one full week, Yanny worked every single day and finally had Move Media’s initial matters settled sufficiently.
In that one week, Yanny not only headhunted a few female celebrity groups but she also made deals with several upcoming directors.
Yanny had watched their debut work and researched their styles in detail. She had great appreciation for their talents.
As the news of Susan’s team leaving the Jinn Group was too shocking, it attracted a wave of random actors to continuously contact Yanny.
Within their ranks was an old acquaintance that Yanny knew well.
Assistant Kiki entered the office and reported, “Boss, there’s a female artist named Cara Jacob that’s looking for you. She also mentioned that she would like to have an audition, and if you like it, she will immediately sign the contract with you.”
Cara Jacob.
It had been a long time since they met.
Yanny replied calmly, “I’m rather busy at the moment and don’t have time to meet her. Kiki, please keep her there and have her wait. I’ll give her a chance to audition today.”
“Yes, boss.”
Yanny made a call to Cindy, “Know-it-all, I need to find out what happened to Cara in the past two years. How did she fall to this state of applying to a small media company like mine?”
Cindy replied, “Oh, her. Last time she used to get closer with other investors using Shayne’s name. However, the past two years, Shayne had made known to all the investors in the industry that he was not acquainted with Cara. If she were to use his name and continue spreading her lies, he would sue her. You know how Cara is with her poor performance and half-baked acting skills. Back then, she could still use you to gain some followers. However, with you going completely off the radar for the past two years, she had nothing to boast with, therefore lacked resources and would only occasionally get the role as a female side character. She was more or less completely forgotten by the audiences. At the same time, she’s also an opportunistic person. I’m sure she’s banking on the big shots like Susan bringing their own team to your small little company and your company is also in need of actors. Cara coming knocking at this time is definitely hoping to join the ranks of the founding member of your company, gambling for a miracle.”
Yanny nodded lightly and said, “Understood.”
Cindy asked out of curiosity, “She’s come to interview for your company. How do you plan to take care of her?”
The phone in the office started ringing again. Yanny laughed and said, “There’s an incoming call. I’ll tell you later.”
“It seems that Cara should start mourning for herself…”
…
After Yanny settled her matter in a relaxed pace, Kiki knocked on the door and entered again.
“Boss, Miss Jacob seems to be getting impatient from waiting.”
Yanny kept her documents and said, “Have her go to the meeting room. Oh, also let Director Yale and Screenwriter Xander head over for the interview. Pass this script to Screenwriter Xander. We’ll have Miss Jacob try this part.”
Kiki was slightly taken aback. “Boss, you aren’t going to have a look?”
“Director Yale and Screenwriter Xander do their job well and have a good eye for talent. I have other matters to attend to so I won’t be going.”
“Okay. I’ll get them right away.”
When Cara started her audition in the meeting room, Yanny sat in front of her computer, staring at the live surveillance camera in the meeting room.
On the screen, Cara was acting her part as a schizophrenic patient.
She kept slapping herself.
However, Director Yale was frowning and said, “You’re not vicious enough. You don’t look like a mentally ill patient.”
Cara’s face was already swollen from her own slaps, and the edge of her mouth even showed traces of blood. Unfortunately, the judges for the audition were still unsatisfied.
Finally, she was just simply dismissed.
Yanny turned off the surveillance, then gave Cindy a call. “Know-it-all, let me share some of Cara’s story with you.”
Cindy laughed sneakily and said, “Out with it. What did you do to that slut earlier?”
Yanny frowned a little, then said in a calm tone, “Nothing. I just had her slap herself a few times during an audition. It’s not too much, right?”
“I knew you won’t let her off. Of course, it was only a few slaps. She still has plenty waiting for her in the future. Earlier, I just dug out all of Cara’s past achievements. She’s rather talentless, but she’s quite good at getting connections. She’s done it with quite a few young startups. However, due to her lack of fame, the paparazzi didn’t even bother getting dirt on her.”
“If that’s the case, then I’ll have to trouble Master Gray to help me to continue fishing.”
“That’s not a problem.”
After Yanny ended the call, she looked up Jacob Wooden Furnitures’ financial situation.
More and more furniture businesses popped up within the past two years. Jacob Wooden Furnitures did not modernize and Yanny had always looked down on them. Lately, more and more of the younger generation tend to veer toward low cost Japanese natural wood, or plywood furnitures. Meanwhile, the demand for classic red wood furniture showed an obvious dip. Moreover, the Jacob family’s factories were still mass producing the old style red wood furniture.
Winson was a stubborn man. He was unwilling to pay the price to hire furniture designers to lower his costs, resulting in his furniture to be a bundle of wasted wood that had nothing to show apart from their material.
The competition in the furniture industry was ever increasing with the growing ease of online furniture purchase. The Jacob family was still stuck in retail sales and had no online platform, running their outdated business model, only supplying to a select few malls and renovation companies.
With all those factors compounded, their furniture sales were in decline.
With the continual decline, the way to cripple them overnight would be to cut them off from all their fixed clients.
…
At night, a blue BMW was shaking violently in a rural suburb.
Half an hour later, Cara climbed out of the BMW and hurried into her own car parked beside it with messy clothes.
In a hidden area, Yanny and Cindy were in a car, observing all that happened within the car earlier with their laptops.
There was a micro surveillance camera in the blue BMW.
Cindy covered her face. “Oh my eyes!”
Yanny used a portable USB drive and made a copy of all the rigorous activity that happened earlier.
Cindy tutted at her with a gossipy look on her face. “Cara is really a worrisome person. She’s about to be married to that Director Young Jr. which is considered a form of elevation to her current status. At such a point, she would still dare to cheat? I wonder what Director Young Jr.’s reaction would be when he sees his fiance's scandalous video. When are you planning to expose this woman?”
Yanny said calmly, “Now is not the best time yet. Since my goal is to have Cara lose everything, then I must pick a venue with a big crowd for someone that loves to show off like her. Her wedding ceremony seems to be a good choice.”
Cindy was speechless.
It was absolutely ruthless.
Cindy casually remarked, “Ancient wisdom is right. It’s better not to offend a woman. Evildoers and women are the hardest to deal with, especially a woman as beautiful as you, and also good at psychological warfare. Vicious, truly vicious.”
She still remembered the pin for the electronic gate. It was her birthday. She did not know if Shayne changed it later on.
Yanny subconsciously keyed in the code. With a clack, the door opened.
It was a loft apartment separated into two levels. The upper level was the bedroom while the lower level was the living room and kitchen. Upon entering, Yanny realized that it looked just the same as when she first moved in. Nothing has changed.
The doll that Shayne gave her was still placed on the fabric sofa on the first level.
Yanny walked over and touched the soft hair of the doll.
She took out her phone and turned on the camera, taking a picture of that doll.
Just as she snapped the picture, she heard the sound of the opening door coming from outside.
Yanny looked over as her heart raced.
Apart from Shayne, there should not be anyone else that would open that door into the apartment at such hours…
Clack.
The door opened once more.
Shayne was working nearby and coincidentally passed by, so he decided to drop by.
For the two years that Yanny was missing, he often stayed in the small building behind Luna Mansion, Blue Water Residential Area, and the River Street Apartment.
It was because they were places that Yanny had lived in the most.
Shayne made a sweeping glance and noticed the clean floor had a trail of wet footprints that did not belong to him.
It went all the way to the second floor.
It was drizzling outside, causing the floor to be wet.
That made it inevitable for the bottom of the shoes to be wet.
However, apart from him, only Yanny knew the code to enter the apartment.
The security of this area was excellent, so burglary was impossible.
Shayne’s heart beat strongly in the dark, pumping wildly.
He slowly got up from the sofa and looked up to the second level. Suddenly, he dared not speak too loudly nor make any big motions.
Quietly, he went up the stairs very slowly.
Each of his steps were taken with the utmost caution.
He was scared and afraid that he might scare her away.
