Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1142

Outside the ICU.

Winson sighed and said, “Looking at this situation, Cara won’t leave the hospital anytime soon. No one can enter the ICU anyway, so only one could wait here for news.”

Lina said, “Your body is not in a good shape, why don’t I stay here and accompany Cara. You go back and rest. Although, I do have to go back and bring some toiletries over.”

Winson nodded and said, “Then you head home to get some toiletries first. We’ll switch shifts later when you come back.”

It was still raining heavily outside. The spring thunder rumbled violently in March.

Lina was carrying her umbrella. She walked out of the hospital’s entrance. She just walked out to hail a taxi, when a bolt of lightning came striking down from the skies.

Rumble! Thud!

A woman’s piercing scream could be heard at the entrance of the hospital.

Many passersby turned to look. They noticed a middle-aged woman being struck by lightning. Her entire body was completely burnt. It was a tragic sight to behold.

“Someone has been struck by lightning!”

“My God, is this the legendary being struck by lightning?”

“If this person was not cursed, it meant that she had been doing many terrible things, that even God could no longer take it!”

Winson’s health had not been great all these years. At his age, his rheumatic leg disease came back again. Whenever he walked fast, he would hobble.

When Lina was being wheeled into the emergency department, Winson hobbled and chased after her.

“W… what happened?”

The doctor asked, “Are you the family of the deceased? The deceased was struck by lightning. When we went to rescue her, she was not breathing anymore.”

Winson’s poorly functioning legs stumbled back a few steps due to shock. He shuddered terribly.

Struck by lightning.

It was Yanny's curse.

Winson felt dizzy. Could it be… that Quincy did not die in peace? That she looked at Yanny suffering so badly to the point that she could not help but take out her anger on Lina and the Jacobs?

At the end of the hospital’s dark, long corridor, Shayne sat on the bench quietly, not saying anything.

Heavy raindrops were thudding against the window outside.

That night was long and cold.

When the morning sun rose in the sky outside the window, Shayne slowly lifted his head to have a look.

He thought the skies were dark and would never be bright again. However, after the entire night of heavy rain, the sun still rose on time.

His entire body was stiff due to sitting in the same position for a long time, and both his legs were numb too.

However, Shayne did not care about his own body. He struggled slightly to get up and stood outside the patient’s ward. His hand held onto the doorknob for a long time, before finally pushing the door open and entering.

Yanny was awake. She leaned against the bed, looking at the warm morning sun in the slightly chilly weather outside of the window dispiritedly.

Shayne walked to the front of the bed. He asked her flatly, “Why did you not tell me you were pregnant?”

Yanny’s face was pale and cold. She turned her head mockingly and looked at him. Her hoarse voice had a sarcastic tone. “If I said I was pregnant, will you not let me give Cara blood?”

“Yanny, you did this on purpose,” Shayne interrupted.

On purpose? Yes, she did it on purpose.

It was on purpose to let him be mistaken, to let him think that it was all intentional.

Their destiny, as if at the beginning, remained in the summer when she met him at the Jacobs’ backyard when she was 18.

Perhaps, from the start, she should not have provoked him.

She was 18 years old when she met him. She made a deal with him that she thought was very worth it and could earn her a lot.

From then on, everything went awry, killing her life.

She confidently thought that she, Yanny Joy, could easily capture Shayne’s heart. As long as she wanted, she could have it anytime.

Seven years of running around and splitting up, it was always fated. She thought that this was the norm of life. As long as she turned back, he was always there.

From meeting, to getting to know each other, then falling in love, she thought that as long as the two of them loved each other profoundly, marriage would be a successful end of the relationship.

She stopped acting for him. She smiled vividly on stage. Below the stage, his tender eyes only had eyes for her.

She thought that they would be together for the rest of their lives.

However, at age 25, she married Shayne. She got pregnant for him, had a miscarriage, and lost her youth.

They had been entangled together for seven years. All her best years were wasted on Shayne.

The both of them were sick, completely sick.

They could not continue this way.

The North City folk were right. Shayne was a brutal and domineering person. When he loved you, you were the world to him. When he did not, he could ruin your entire world.

He would never change.

If there were a chance to turn back time, Yanny would never wish to meet him, even if her life would lack color.

This love was too painful for her.
