The wind was cool and dry on Yanny’s last day in Grape Island.

The window in the master bedroom was wide opened. The sea breeze blew through the open window into the mansion. It was extremely relaxing and comfortable.

Yanny and Shayne had a few drinks. They were lying on the huge bed without doing anything. It felt nice to simply lie down and do nothing.

It was the first time Yanny felt that loving someone in silence could be such a wonderful feeling.

Shayne, who was always so noisy, could be so lovely when he was quiet.

Yanny leaned in his embrace and looked at the man with her dewy eyes as she said, “Shayne, I’ve always wanted to ask you something. I’m curious.”

“What else are you curious about? Go ahead.” Shayne lowered his eyes to look at her as he caressed her pretty face with his slender fingers.

Yanny asked, “Why didn’t see me off when I left two years ago?”

Shayne answered truthfully, “It’s a lie to say I don’t want you to leave. To be honest, I dared not see you leave.”

“Dared…not?” Yanny smiled and said teasingly, “Am I a beast? Moreover, I didn’t know you’d be afraid of seeing people off.”

The man gazed deeply at her. His eyes were filled with affection that he himself did not realize as he said, “I’m afraid I would hijack the plane you’d be getting on.”

Yanny was speechless.

Yanny believed him. Judging by Shayne’s unscrupulous character, he was actually capable of doing something so unexpected.

“In that case, why did you ask Henry to tell me that you won’t be praying for me to have a smooth journey, that you hoped that I wouldn’t be able to ride the winds and break the waves since my life was foredoomed to failure? “You would think that there would be a way back if I said something like ‘I’ll wait for you no matter whether you succeed or fail as long as you come back’. Humans won’t go all out as long as they think there’s still a way back. That’s human nature. Nobody was born strong and formidable unless you force them to go all out.”

Yanny’s lips curled up gradually. Her eyes were shining with tears. “Shayne, I’ve never ever thought that someone who loves me so much would appear in my life.”

Shayne lowered his head and kissed her forehead. He said in a soft yet firm tone, “Then you should know that from now on, someone who loves you so much exists. Yanny, I love you more than anything.”

Yanny leaned into Shayne’s embrace as she cried and smiled at the same time. She reached out her arms and wrapped them tightly around Shayne’s neck.

She was so lucky to have him.

Yanny started working after she went back. Although most of her work was transferred back to her home country, she and Shayne were still often separated due to it.

Although Shayne was freer, he still had work to deal with as well. He did not have the time to accompany Yanny at the filming location all the time.

Moreover, Yanny did not like Shayne accompanying her whenever she was working. She could not focus on her work.

Yanny and Shayne went back to Lushway Town to visit Heather after they decided to get married.

Yanny held Shayne’s hand as she said to Heather, “Grandma, Shayne and I are getting married soon.”

Heather wept with joy. “You’re finally going to be married and settled down. Your mother can finally rest in peace in her grave. Have you set a wedding date yet?”

Shayne said, “We haven’t confirmed the date yet. Yanny is pretty busy with her work so we’ll be getting married when she’s a bit freer. It all depends on her schedule.”

Heather was happy to see Shayne being so considerate toward Yanny. She kept saying yes.

Heather asked Yanny to sleep with her that night. The grandmother and granddaughter duo did not see each other for quite some time and had a lot to say to each other. Heather had a lot of advice to give Yanny as well.

Shayne slept in Yanny’s room.

Yanny slept with Heather in the room next door. It was the peak of summer so it was very hot at night.

Heather fanned herself with a traditional fan after switching off the lights. She moved her wrist gently and felt a light breeze brushing across her cheeks and ears.

Heather spoke earnestly, “Yanny, I know you’re an ambitious person. You even went to the United States to work and left Shayne alone for so long. He would have cheated on you numerous times if he was a normal guy like Winson. However, Shayne visited me almost every week throughout the past two years. He would talk to me, play cards with me, and he did a lot of things with me on your behalf. Yanny, you must appreciate this man. No matter how ambitious you are, you cannot neglect him. Yanny was stunned. She never imagined that Shayne would come and visit Heather for the past two years. Shayne never told her, yet he was taking care of the most important person in her life with his actions.

“Grandma, I know… I’ve thought through some things and decided to do something for him.”

Heather did not say anything more. She simply patted Yanny’s shoulder gently and said lovingly, “You were always an opinionated kid. As long as you know what to do, it’s fine. I won’t comment much. You need to be more considerate toward him in the future.”

Yanny touched the ring on her ring finger and made a big decision secretly.

The decision had nothing to do with losing or sacrificing anything. She wanted to do it on her own accord.

Shayne raised his brows. “It’s better than you dying in the street.”

Zander opened his mouth and wanted to persuade Shayne, yet he was afraid that Shayne would be angry. Although they were best friends, it was not good to talk bad about their partners. Because of that, Zander decided to keep quiet.

Zander always thought that Yanny was a clever and selfish woman. He thought she was always using Shayne and kept Shayne waiting. In his eyes, Yanny was a woman who could do anything for her own benefit. No matter how pretty she was, even if she was prettier than angels, he thought she was a poisoned rose with thorns that Shayne should not mess with.

He thought Shayne would be covered in blood one day.

That was because Zander always assumed that Yanny did not love Shayne. He thought she only loved his background and wealth. She simply thought Shayne was her best choice after weighing the pros and cons.

Yanny ended her job earlier. She flew back earlier and wanted to give Shayne a surprise.

However, she realized Shayne was not at home when she arrived.

He called Shayne but Zander was the one who picked up.

Zander said, “Old Shane is drinking with us. He came to give us the wedding invitations and is in the restroom right now. He can’t drive because he drank. You should come and pick him up.”

Yanny hung up and grabbed Shayne’s woolen scarf on the coat rack before leaving the house.

He would catch a cold on such a chilly day wearing only a t-shirt and coat.

Yanny was driving. There were not a lot of people at night. She felt warm under the chilly night because she was looking forward to picking Shayne up.

She arrived at the private room in the bar and said hello to Zander and the rest. After that, Shayne ignored the others as he pulled her into his embrace and showered her with his kisses.

Yanny was not a thin-skinned person. Since Zander and the others would not feel awkward, she did not feel awkward as well.

As they were going to become a family soon, Zander lifted his wine cup and said to Yanny, “Old Shayne gave us his wedding invitation today. That makes all of us here who are still unmarried quite jealous. You and Old Shayne should down three cups as punishment.”

Yanny smiled faintly. “I need to drive so I can’t drink. I’ll drink tea instead.”

Shayne was in a good mood. He was fine with Zander picking on Yanny as long as it was not too over the top.

Yanny accompanied Shayne in the room for some time. She received a call regarding work, so she went out of the room to pick up the phone.

Zander followed her out, saying that he wanted to go to the toilet.
