Shayne stayed by Yanny's side for the entire night.
He only felt relieved after Yanny's temperature had dropped and after Yanny had gone through the third bottle of IV fluids.
The first light of dawn could be seen peeking through the old windows of the small clinic.
Shayne rested his head against Yanny's, gently closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Due to his lack of sleep for two to three days, Shayne slept deep and long.
When he woke up and rubbed his eyes, he noticed that the sick person was missing.
Yanny had disappeared and was missing.
Shayne's heart thumped and after being stunned for two seconds, he immediately got up and started looking for her in the clinic.
In his frantic search, he bumped into several African men.
'F*ck, this woman has no heart. After watching over her for an entire night, she had the audacity to just leave me alone!'
Shayne gritted his teeth and could not be bothered by other things as he strode out the small clinic. He was getting ready to return home and go after her.
However, just as he frantically stormed out of the clinic, he noticed Yanny walking out of a small supermarket next to the clinic. She was holding onto a small white plastic bag while her eyes looked dull. It was not as sharp as she usually was and it seemed that she looked significantly weaker after getting so sick.
As rays from the morning sun enveloped her face, she looked significantly more gentle than usual.
Shayne was stunned for a moment as he stared at her from the clinic's entrance.
He initially thought that she had abandoned him and left on her own. However, his heart was somehow aching tremendously when he noticed her in her current state.
He could not describe how exactly he felt.
It was until Yanny raised her head to look at him that Shayne coquettishly gritted his teeth, strode over and grabbed her arm before embracing her in his arms. He said as if he was lecturing her, "You're still sick, so why are you wandering off for? Do you want to feed the wolves again?"
Yanny was speechless.
If it was not for him, she would have never gone to the extent of feeding the wolves.
Shayne was hugging her tightly as he rested his head heavily on her slender little shoulder. He was pushing some of his weight onto her as if he wanted to pull her entire body into his.
Since Yanny was already a quiet person, she found herself feeling more speechless at the moment.
Shayne let out a heavy sigh while he frowned deeply as he said, "Please don't wander off again. I was worried sick."
He was significantly more gentle toward her and the barbaric tone of his voice from earlier had morphed into a gentle, loving and a little flirtatious as a man.
Yanny could barely breathe from how tightly he was hugging her as she said with a slight frown, "Let go of me, Shayne."
"No. If you dare wander off again, trust me when I said I'm going to break your legs."
"... You're hugging me so tightly, I can't breathe."
Shayne was speechless. He was stunned for a moment before releasing her. He looked a little awkward as he was staring at her with an impatient look before snatching the plastic bag over. He said, "What nonsense did you buy?"
He noticed toothbrushes and towels when he looked into the plastic bag.
They had not freshened up yet.
She had bought two toothbrushes and two pieces of towels.
It seemed that Yanny truly had no intention in leaving him alone.
Shayne felt incredibly secure in that instant.
Yanny was uncertain why Shayne was so happy in that moment as she coldly said, "We'll freshen up in the clinic's washroom."
"Sure." Shayne replied and was very obedient to her.
Yanny walked ahead while Shayne was following her from behind.
Shayne was initially trying to play it cool, however after walking for some time, the woman was actually ignoring him. Since he was unable to accept that, he strode forward and grabbed her hand, no longer letting go anymore.
Yanny took a glance at him and since she was unable to break free from his grasp, she allowed him to hold onto it as much as he wanted.
Shayne's smile grew wider after realizing that Yanny did not refuse his advances.
Shayne was not willing to let go even when they had arrived at the washroom.
Yanny asked, "Are you trying to enter the female washroom with me?"
Shayne was speechless as the corner of his mouth twitched before letting go of her hand in a crude manner. He exclaimed, "I'm not sick enough to enter the female washroom yet."
Yanny was not as fast as Shayne when it came to doing things. When she was finally done freshening up and got out of the washroom, she noticed Shayne was already waiting for her outside of the washroom as he leaned against the wall.
The man was known for his pride and elegance. It did not matter if he was standing in the middle of a pile of trash but he would still be able to elevate the quality of even the worst environment just by standing in it.
When Yanny walked over to him, Shayne raised his brows a little while his handsome face seemed a little impatient as he said, "God, you're slow. Did you fall into the toilet bowl?"
"I've never flirted with Samuel and it has been Samuel's own habit of sending me his business cards. It wasn't me who wanted him to send it."
"Oh, so you're saying that you still missed him?" Shayne had always been quite excellent in skewing words around. The main points he raised were also extremely weird.
Yanny said, "I never flirted with him and if you saw it yourself, it'll only mean that you're overthinking it and it has absolutely nothing to do with me."
Shayne replied in an impatient tone, "Oh, I'm blind then."
Yanny bit her lips and realized that there was no point in explaining further nor did she wish to dwell on it, so she left the clinic on her own.
Shayne went after her and grabbed her hand as he said, "So, is that it?"
He looked disappointed.
Yanny was puzzled as she asked, "Is what it?"
Shayne sighed in a depressingly defeated tone as he said, "I've explained to you everything that you wanted to know about but you never finished explaining to me about the things I want to know."
"You don't believe me when I explained anyway."
Shayne seemed a little furious as he said, "So you won't even explain anymore after I'm not convinced? Why won't you try explaining to me further? How would you know that I won't believe you? Yanny, why won't you fight for me? You're able to reminisce and miss Samuel for so many years and yet when I'm so nice to you, am I really not worthy for your fight at all?"
'She agreed when I mentioned the breakup without even begging me to not break up with her. Damn this heartless woman.'
Yanny was speechless.
Yanny felt that Shayne was still like a little elementary school kid.
Yanny snapped back at him, "Oh, you're so nice to me, that you're willing to leave me alone in an open grassy plains so that I can almost be eaten by a wolf. You're so nice to me that you're willing to break up with me without any reason. Hence, being nice to me meant that you're able to break up with me whenever you want to and reconcile with me whenever you want? Shayne Jinn, did you know that you're like the passing wind? How do you expect me to like you, fight for you and keep you around?"
Shayne was completely stunned for a couple of seconds from her blunt statement.
Yanny felt a little exhausted and was about to head over to the supermarket to buy some food. Shayne suddenly exclaimed in a defeated tone from behind, "I was just very insecure with you and I wanted to use a breakup to trigger you. Yanny, do you really not understand me even the slightest bit?"
"I was always the one who came back to you after we fought every time. Yanny, did you know that I was only hoping for you to come begging for me once just to reconcile our relationship but you never did?"
'She never did.'
Yanny calmly said, "But I'm not you. The person who wanted the break up was you. Since you wanted the break up in the first place, why should I waste my efforts in begging you to otherwise?"
"How would you know it's a waste of effort without even trying? Yanny, did you know that as long as you're willing to even take a step forward and walk your way toward me, I'll be willing to walk the rest of your life together with you? However, you never even moved from the same spot. You keep standing there without even taking a step forward."
Yanny cracked a calm smile and said, "Then did you know that if you're actually willing to take the effort and just take a step forward toward me, I'd be willing to walk the rest of your life with you as well? Shayne, you never took the initiative to do so in the first place since you won't even tell me the reason for breaking up with me, so how would you expect me to take a step forward to you anyway? We're just like a pile of sand and we have no direction. If there's a direction in the first place, perhaps I might even be willing to beg you with all my might but you said nothing and all you wanted was a break up. This will only make me feel that you're bored of me since you're unable to give me a reason in the first place."
