By the time Yanny turned around, she was already wearing an extremely polite and clear smile on her face as she said, "Long time no see."
When she broke up with Samuel back when she was sixteen, she had once imagined all kinds of scenarios of her reunion with him. However, she never imagined that she would be reuniting with Samuel in such a tense setting.
The dim orange street lamps illuminated Yanny's face while Samuel stared at her. He finally cracked a helpless chuckle as he said, "I actually thought that this wouldn't be the first thing you say to me upon reuniting with each other.
Yanny was puzzled as she stared at him with a curious look while Samuel stared intensely back at her as he said, "I thought that you're going to say that you miss me instead."
'It's been five years.'
The man had completely disappeared from her life from when she was sixteen until she was twenty-one years old.
Yanny chuckled gently and seemed calm as she said, "I can't bring myself to say that to an ex who has disappeared from my life for five years."
"I know that I've… wronged you back then."
Yanny had no intentions in reminiscing about the old days with him nor did she wish to linger about all kinds of events they missed out on in the past as she said, "All of that is in the past now and it's getting late. I need to head home now."
Just as Yanny was about to reach out and take Samuel's jacket off, Samuel hugged her shoulder and said, "Let me send you home. It's really difficult to call a cab at this hour."
Yanny did not refuse him since her make up looked very intricately detailed while she was wearing a thin ball gown. It was a cold winter night and she would only look like a complete fool if she was to stand in the cold night street all by herself.
She did not want to go viral the next day as the headline could read, [Woman in a ball gown caught standing in the cold night while meeting a mysterious lover.]
Samuel drove his car toward her before opening the door to the co-driver's seat for her. Yanny did not say much and entered the car.
The black Bentley drove at a slow pace on the road.
Samuel said, "I've paid close attention to you all these years and I heard that you've become the main female lead for Larry Cross' 'Black and White.' It's airing this coming Spring?"
Yanny nodded gently. "Yeah."
It was a calm reply.
"Why must you sell yourself off to Shayne Jinn?" Samuel bluntly asked.
Yanny's reply was blunt too. "I did it all for fame and money."
The flashing lights shone through the windows and flashed across Samuel's handsome face. His expressions looked as complicated as his turbulent emotions at the moment.
He knew he owed her way too much for parting with her for five whole years.
The black Bentley suddenly pulled over at the side of the road.
Yanny looked cold and emotionless.
Samuel then turned around and looked at her before saying, "Can you please give me one more chance to make things right for you, Hillary? I won't ever let you go again this time and I will give you the home you always wanted."
Yanny chuckled and said, "Do you know what's the biggest problem between us?"
"We missed out on five years and if you're willing, we can make up our lost time. Me leaving without saying a word which caused you to suffer so much back then was absolutely my fault."
Yanny chuckled bitterly while shaking her head as she continued to raise her head and look at him before saying, "I'm Yanny now and yet you still call me Hillary. Look Samuel, if we missed out, it's all too late now. You don't even know what my name is right now so what makes you think that you can confidently say that we still can make up our lost time?"
"Yanny…"
Yanny randomly opened one of the letters and when she read the letter, she noticed that the handwriting on the letter was exactly like hers. It was very difficult to tell if it was real or not.
"The handwriting is exactly the same as mine but this isn't written by me. Can I keep these letters with me for now? I need to find out who exactly forged my handwriting to write you letters."
Samuel chuckled in a disappointing tone as he said, "Now it seems… that I truly wasted my time. The letters aren't even real. Oh Yanny, are we truly over?"
Yanny bit her lips and finally said, "Send me home, Samuel."
They remained silent throughout the entire drive.
After arriving at the main entrance of the Blue Water Residential Area, Yanny got out of the car while Samuel followed behind her.
"Hold on a second."
Yanny turned back to look at the tall and elegant man. Since Samuel used to be a loner, a distant and intimidating aura emanated from every inch of his body. It seemed that five years later, the passage of time only made the man seem more intimidating than he used to. He gained fame from being an investor in London. The poor man with absolutely nothing transformed into a wealthy investor in London. His elegance only made him seem more menacing.
Samuel approached her and said, "You asked me once about why I only wrote about you in my love letter. I never told you the reason because I always thought that we had more time together and I'd be able to slowly explain to you the reason in the future. However it never occurred to me that our relationship would end this way.
"I'll tell you the reason now then. I only wrote about you because I think about you all the time in my heart and there wasn’t a day that I never thought about you. I am actually glad to hear that you're only with Shayne because of his benefits."
He truly was afraid that Yanny might actually fall for another man.
However, his undying confidence had all faded away that night.
Samuel lowered his head and kissed Yanny's forehead.
His lips had already left before Yanny could react. It felt like a dream since the kiss felt extremely light. It felt so light that it was as if nothing had happened.
