After the meal, in his black Bentley limo.
Jake felt that the car’s atmosphere was suffocating. He subconsciously looked in the rearview mirror at the drunken man sitting behind.
Shayne had his head back on the seat, deeply breathing and swallowing hard.
The suppressed anger in his chest had nowhere to escape, clogging up terribly inside him.
Jake pursed his lips and cautiously said, “Master Shayne, the things that you want me to check up on, I’ve looked into.”
Shayne lifted his head and opened his eyes slightly. He looked at the top of the car and only muttered two words sharply from his thin lips, “Tell me.”
“T-the…letter indeed came from England. The address was also Samuel Lane’s residence. As for the handwriting, I’ve sent someone to Samuel’s alma mater and got a professional to compare the handwriting. It’s…”
Jake hesitated a little.
“It’s what?” Shayne said coldly with a murderous aura.
Jake said stiffly, “It is indeed Samuel's handwriting. Those letters were not faked.”
So Samuel’s letters were real.
There was a moment that Shayne would like to believe Yanny, but Samuel was not any other ordinary person.
Yanny had called out this man’s name in her dreams many times.
A proud person like Shayne, felt like his dignity and ego were getting crushed at that moment.
Backup.
Shayne did not want to admit that he was Yanny’s backup. He did not want to admit that he was her second choice.
Even if those letters were fake, it could not wipe off the fact that Yanny had unconsciously yelled Samuel’s name time after time in her dreams.
What more, Samuel’s replies were real.
Jake asked hesitantly, “Master Shayne, is there a possibility that someone imitated Miss Yany’s handwriting and wrote a letter to Samuel?”
After a long time, Shayne closed his eyes again and was silent. Finally, he said coldly, “That’s not important.”
Samuel was always in Yanny’s heart. She had never forgotten him.
This was a fact that Yanny did not want to admit but was forced to.
So what? Even if there were no letters, did it mean that there would be a different person in Yanny’s heart?
The Bentley headed to Luna Mansion.
Jake’s phone rang, it was from Yanny.
Jake hesitated and asked, “Master Shayne, Miss Yanny is calling. S-should I pick it up?”
Shayne’s phone was smashed to pieces earlier and he temporarily did not have a new phone. Naturally, Yanny could not get in contact with him.
Yanny called Jake to look for Shayne.
“Pick it up.”
Jake picked up the call.
Yanny asked on the other end, “Jake, is Master Shayne’s phone turned off? I can’t seem to get him. Are…you two together right now?”
“Ye..No. We’re not.”
Master Shayne was still furious. He obviously did not want to talk to Yanny. Jake did not dare defy his wishes.
Yanny was a smart person/ Through Jake’s tone, she knew what was happening.
Yanny did not ask any further questions, nor did she try to expose the awkwardness. She just said gently, “As long as he’s fine. Take good care of him. I’m hanging up.”
Jake was speechless.
If it were not for Shayne sitting in the backseat, Jake would have almost told Yanny the truth. It was due to Yanny’s maturity and understanding that Jake could not bear to watch what was happening before him.
Previously, Jake had dealt with the assorted female celebrities that were together with Shayne. All of them were divas, barely together with Shayne for a few days when they thought that they were high up on the pedestal. They were all arrogant and domineering.
However, that was not the case with Yanny. She has been with Shayne for two years, yet she remained the same. She was not arrogant nor spoiled. Her words were sometimes sharp but they were still respectful.
Yanny hung up.
She was sitting in front of her dresser Looking at the Barbie doll by her side, she stretched her arm out and tapped on the Barbie’s head, laughing hoarsely, “You’re just an unimportant female companion.”
She was not even his girlfriend. She initially thought that she was. However, which girlfriend could not reach their boyfriend and had to actively call them multiple times a day yet still received no reply?
She should have known earlier that Shayne was a playboy. She was confident that even if she did not see him for half a year, he would still wait for her to come back.
Up till previously, she thought that Shayne was just caring for her when she told him not to disturb her at work and he obeyed.
“Say you love me.”
His thin lips were less than a centimeter away from hers. It was extremely close that they could feel their breaths out of sync.
His tone was not asking for sweet talk, it was more like an order. It was fierce and cold.
In the past, Yanny knew that Shayne was not as frivolous and easily brushed off as he appeared to be and that he also had a horrifying side. However, she never imagined that when Shayne got angry, he would turn out to be so oppressive.
Yanny did not know how she had offended him. “How did I offend you?”
Ever since she came back from North City, she tried sending him messages and calling him. When he did not reply, Yanny felt that something was up.
Shayne ignored her words. He pinched her chin with his long slender fingers and sneered, “You can’t say it? I thought you’re great at acting? Even such a simple phrase yet you can’t say it?”
“Shayne…”
“Don’t try to change the subject!” He violently interrupted her. Clearly, he did not have the patience. When the angry beast was released from its cage, all hell broke loose.
“I… What happened to you?” Yanny tried to comfort him.
However, Shayne did not need her fake comforts. He released her chin and sneered mockingly.
She really could not say it.
If he was in her heart, why would she hesitate to tell him that she loved him?
If the person in front of her right now was Samuel, perhaps she could fluently say it out loud.
Shayne has already determined the answer.
Because of that, he said emotionlessly. “Let’s go to bed.”
It was ice cold.
Yanny glared at him fiercely, her dignity was totally crushed into pieces under his legs.
She clenched her fist tight, converting those emotions into actions. She lifted her hands and slapped him hard.
“Shayne, you asked me who are you to me, but what do you take me for?”
Trust was like a thin piece of paper, easily torn.
