[Skyline Plaza: Zoren’s]
Penny took a few steps back, crossing her arms. Her eyelashes fluttered as she lifted her gaze to the wall of Zoren’s study room. She would’ve used any other room, but this was the only place even the cleaners wouldn’t go to unless given permission by him.
Besides, she wanted to keep all of this on a board. But with so much information, a board wouldn’t be enough.
"That Jonathan..." she stressed under her breath, clicking her tongue as she cocked her head to the side. "...that jackass is really onto something."
Zoren stopped beside her and nodded, eyes on the wall full of pictures his wife had put together. There were even notes she wrote and added, all based on the photos Atlas sent.
"He makes me angry," she muttered, turning her head to her husband. "How is First Brother?"
Zoren looked back at her and offered her a subtle smile. "They’re fine. They’ll be here at any moment. Your Uncle Wild’s men were escorting them back to ensure their safety."
"And Mint?"
"She’s fine," he paused and glanced at the wall. "She’ll be here once she manages to get some work done. That’s what she said."
"I see." Penny huffed faintly and set her attention back to the wall once more. "Renren." freewёbnoνel.com
"Hmm?"
"Just like you said." Her voice quieted down, eyes on one picture on top of this ring. "She’s alive."
Zoren, who was also staring at the photo of Naylani Pierson, hummed. "Mhm."
"Are you alright?"
"..." His answer didn’t come immediately, as if he was thinking of the right words to say. "I have no emotional attachment to her. However, I do have one question for her."
Penny’s brows rose as she looked at his side profile again. "Just one question?"
"Mhm. Just one." He snapped his eyes ever so slowly, keeping his eyes on the photo of a slightly older version of Naylani. "I want to know... if she ever loved him."
What followed was nothing but pure, deafening silence.
Penny pursed her lips, her eyes gleaming with all sorts of emotions in a matter of seconds.
’He’s not even curious if she loved his son or why she did what she was doing,’ she thought, letting out a deep exhale as she peeled her gaze from him. ’But then again, their relationship as mother and son is already non-existent. It is beyond repair, not because it’s too broken, but because no one could fix something that isn’t there to begin with.’
"I have my family now," he said after a long silence, reaching out to her folded arms. He took her arm and then slid his hands to hers.
When Penny met his eyes, a subtle smile appeared on his face. "I have you."
And he had the Bennet Family now as well.
It wasn’t just Zoren and Old Mrs. Pierson.
What he had now was a whole family where he could be silly at times. A family he could be honest with, and a family that wouldn’t see his weakness and weaponize it to hurt him.
