Jonathan frowned and cut me off. “I never said that. I just thought you were the jealous type. 

That’s all. I never had any other feelings for her.” 

I shook his hand off. “Oh really?” 

“That day by the pool, Alicia was the one who pushed me in. She told me to watch closely and see who you’d save. And just like she said, you saved her. Do you really think I’ll buy your excuses 

after that?” 

Jonathan’s face darkened, caught between disbelief and anger. “Why didn’t you ever tell me that?” 

I gave him an impatient look. “Why should I tell you?” 

Jonathan took a deep breath, like he was holding something back. 

After a long pause, he finally said in a hoarse voice, “Elise, I know you lost your memory. That’s why you don’t believe me. But once it comes back, you won’t need me to explain any of this.” 

I scoffed and didn’t even bother to respond. 

He stayed silent for a while, watching me. “You really don’t remember anything at all?” 

I had lost my memory for so long, but he hadn’t noticed a thing. He must have found that strange. 

I let out a cold laugh. “I didn’t lose my memory, Jonathan. I remember everything. I just still find you disgusting, and I still want a divorce. Is that clear enough for you?” 

Jonathan’s lips pressed into a tight line. His face went blank for a second. 

After a moment, he finally said, “Let’s finish the checkup first. If the doctor says you’re fine, I’ll take you home.” 

“I’m moving out,” I said without hesitation. 

I thought Jonathan would refuse, but to my surprise, he nodded right away. “Alright. I’ll take care of it.” 

“I don’t want to live with you. And don’t put me in places like Willowcreek again. I’ll find a place on my own,” I said.
