Chapter 156
I could feel Jonathan’s intentions taking a turn, and I shouted instantly, “Stop! What are you doing?
Jonathan looked at me, his expression dark and unreadable. “Elise, something’s wrong with you.”
He brushed my hair aside, exposing my entire face. His voice was hoarse, rough. “What happened to you? What are you hiding from me?”
When I didn’t respond, he tilted my chin up, forcing me to face him.
Then he bit the corner of my mouth. He always did that, biting my lips and cheeks. It was like he had some strange habit of doing it, and I honestly couldn’t stand it..
“Don’t touch me!”
Jonathan rubbed my cheek hard. “You weren’t like this before.”
His gaze darkened. “No matter how mad you got, you never changed this much.”
I took a deep breath and looked away.
On the outside, I acted angry and irritated, but inside, I was starting to panic.
What if he figured it out? What if he realized I had lost my memory?
He didn’t even want a divorce to begin with. If he found out I didn’t remember anything, he’d use it to prove I wasn’t thinking straight, that I didn’t really want to leave him.
Seeing me avoid his eyes only made him more certain. He gripped my chin, forcing my gaze back to his.
“Elise, what the hell is going on with you?”
I didn’t answer. He suddenly leaned in closer, his voice low and edged with threat. “Don’t make me force it out of you.”
I snapped to attention, watching him warily. “What do you mean by that?”
Jonathan didn’t respond. He just flipped me onto my back and pinned me beneath him. With one hand, he pulled up my shirt.
The cold air hit my exposed stomach, and I instinctively arched my back, but he pushed me flat against the bed.
