Oliver sighed deeply. "Dear Ms. Ashford, couldn't you tell that Mr. Hastings was in a bad mood today?"
Frowning, I asked, "Really? He looked fine."
"Mr. Hastings' bad mood can be classified into two categories. It's fine when he's just gloomy, but when he does crazy stuff while smiling, that's the scariest."
"Does crazy stuff while smiling?"
Oliver nodded. "When that happens, even if he asks you to become the CEO, you should agree with him. Otherwise, he'll get mad…"
Oliver shuddered and turned around to leave. I was confused, but I dared not ask too much about it.
I carried out my duties as ordered by Alex, but I could sense his indifference for me. He'd just give me a simple nod like I was an ordinary employee whenever we passed by each other.
Holding my documents, I smiled and comforted myself, saying, "It's better this way."
Patricia asked me softly, "What's wrong with you and Mr. Hastings? Why do I feel like you two have become… distant?"
Stunned, I glanced at Patricia. "Shouldn't Mr. Hastings and I be like this?"
Patricia gave me a puzzled look. "How can it be? You two weren't like this. Serena, did something happen to you two?"
Elena lay on Julian's chest, saying, "Serena must've realized how well you treat me and felt jealous. That's why she sent someone to kidnap you."
At the mention of the police, Julian remembered something and looked at Elena. "Give me my phone. I need to call the police."
Thinking Julian had come to his senses, Elena excitedly handed him the phone. Julian dialed the police station's number and asked, "Hello, may I know what the update on my case is?"
After some time, Julian frowned. "What? Alex was released? Have you found the suspect, then?"
Julian was clearly fuming. "No? How do you people work? How could you release Alex when you haven't found anything? I'm telling you, this is related to Alex Hastings."
