No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 680

That kind of courage was something most people could only dream of.

Still, Claudia offered a responsible reminder, “If you’re not planning on having kids yet, you have to use protection. An abortion is very hard on your body.”

Darleen nodded obediently. “Don’t worry, Claudia. Peter is always really careful about that. He doesn’t want to mess up my studies by having me get pregnant so early.”

She looked a little embarrassed. “It was just this one time… I was wearing a kind of short skirt, and Peter couldn’t control himself. We were in the car and didn’t have any protection, and then I forgot to take the morning-after pill.”

Claudia covered her face. “Darleen, is that something you should be telling people?”

Darleen teased, “Want to hear the details, Claudia?”

Claudia practically face-planted on the table. What a little minx.

After breakfast, Claudia was ready to head home, and Darleen walked her downstairs.

In the living room, the Harvest family had just arrived. When Ann saw the beautiful woman standing next to Darleen, a flash of jealousy crossed her eyes.

Why was such a stunning woman at the Ferguson estate?

Ann approached them and asked tentatively, “Miss Ferguson, and this is…?”

Darleen glanced at her brother and replied snidely, “Is my good friend bothering you?”

Ann breathed a sigh of relief. So she was just a friend of the family’s daughter.

With a plastered-on smile, Ann said, “You’re joking, Miss Ferguson. I just thought this young lady was very beautiful and wanted to make a new friend.”

Claudia stood silently beside Darleen, offering no introduction. She could tell Ann’s friendliness was fake, and she wanted nothing to do with her.

Wendy, York's mother, chimed in, “It’s not inappropriate at all. Think of this as your own home. You don’t need to be so formal.”

And just like that, Claudia was dragged into the living room by Darleen.

York chose a seat at a considerable distance from Claudia, making no move to sit near her. Claudia sat quietly beside Darleen, trying her best to be invisible. She hadn’t taken off her coat, and after just a few moments, she was already starting to feel warm.

From the corner of his eye, York was watching her. He picked up the remote on the coffee table and subtly lowered the air conditioning temperature.

Ann noticed Claudia being pulled into the living room and her expression soured. A guest of the Fergusons who not only didn’t leave but dared to sit in on a private family discussion. This woman had no manners at all.

Her gaze landed on the remote in York’s hand, and she decided to test the waters. “I seem to have left my jacket in the car. Mr. Ferguson, could I possibly borrow a jacket?”

York didn’t even bother to lift his eyes. He addressed the butler standing near the Gideon's dad, “Butler Palmer, take off your jacket and give it to her.”
