Late that night, when York dragged his heavy body back to the bedroom, Claudia was already asleep.

He forced himself to stand by the bed, staring at the sleeping face on the pillow, his eyelashes trembling uncontrollably. He had been in so much pain he nearly passed out, yet she could sleep so soundly. Her heart had grown so cold.

York was numb with pain. He lay down on his side next to her, carefully wrapping his arms around her over the blanket.

It was him. He was the one who had unknowingly extinguished Claudia’s passion for him. He was the one who had personally destroyed her love. He deserved this.

The temperature in the island villa was low at night. York’s body instinctively moved closer to Claudia, his arms wrapping tighter and tighter around her, but he didn’t pull the blanket over himself.

Claudia was disgusted that his heart had once fluttered for another woman. Disgusted that he had emotionally cheated on her during their marriage. She found him tainted, which was why she refused to eat the food he made and recoiled from his touch.
