No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 449

York glanced at Peter, then went back to playing dead.

Peter ventured a guess. "Cyrus is your uncle, after all. Did you plant a spy at Grant Manor?"

"This is Capital City," York said, his tone flat. "If I want to know something, there's nothing I can't find out."

Peter curled his lip in disdain. "So what if you're all-powerful? You took a knife for Claudia, and she still won't give you the time of day."

York's hollow eyes stared up at the cold, white ceiling.

This awful situation with Claudia was only temporary. He was sure of it.

They would find their way back to each other.

Peter, watching his expression, decided to twist the knife. "Don't get your hopes up. Claudia holds a grudge like nobody else. She wouldn't soften up even if you were burned to a crisp and back."

York closed his eyes, tired of listening. He knew Claudia's actions—pushing him toward the attacker, saving Cyrus instead of him—were just to spite him. Her love for him was etched into her very bones. It couldn't just disappear. If he was patient enough, if he tried hard enough, she would come back to him.

Just then, the door flew open and Darleen rushed in, frantic. "Peter, it's bad! Grandpa and Dad went to the Watkins' house!"

Peter and York exchanged a look. York shot up in bed.

The sudden movement pulled at his stitches, and a wave of dizziness washed over him, nearly sending him toppling over.

Meanwhile, at the Watkins residence.

Claudia didn't back down. "I can't afford it, but Mr. Cyrus can. Your son was injured at Grant Manor. If you insist, President Ferguson, Mr. Cyrus is willing to cover all the costs."

Old Mr. Ferguson, who had been silent until now, spoke up. "We are here today to resolve the matter between you and York. This has nothing to do with anyone else."

Claudia walked right up to him. "I've said everything there is to say. York and I are divorced. There are no ties between us, and there's nothing for you to resolve. Please leave. Now!"

Leaning on his cane, the old man was helped to his feet by his butler.

He scanned the three members of the Watkins family, his tone leaving no room for argument. "I want the Watkins family to move out of Capital City!"

Claudia stared at him in disbelief.
