No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 446

After speaking with the doctor, Claudia learned that both of York's wounds were deep. He had lost so much blood that he had fallen unconscious before even reaching the operating table.

A flicker of worry stirred in Claudia's heart.

If York's father and grandfather found out York had been stabbed twice, lost a dangerous amount of blood, and was in a coma, she couldn't imagine how heartbroken and furious they would be.

The next day, around noon, York finally woke up.

He looked around the room and saw his parents, his sister, and two unfamiliar women.

York asked his mother, "Mom, who are they?"

The two middle-aged women approached the bed. "Hello, Mr. Ferguson. Dr. Watkins hired us to take care of you."

Caregivers?

York's face darkened instantly. "Where is she?"

One of the caregivers replied, "Dr. Watkins went home early this morning."

York was speechless.

Sewell's face was livid with anger. "I knew that woman was no good! You got hurt because of her, and she just dumps you in the hospital and leaves!"

Sewell turned to his wife, Wendy. "We're going to the Watkins' house right now. I want to ask them just how they raised their daughter!"

"Dad!" York struggled to sit up, wincing from the pain in his wounds. "This is between me and Claudia. Can you please not involve her family?"

Wendy pointed a finger at Sewell. "With a stubborn old fool like you in the Ferguson family, it doesn't matter who York marries, they're bound to get divorced!"

Darleen Ferguson chimed in quietly, "Besides, my sister-in-law was at Grant Manor. She didn't ask my brother to save her. He did it because he's obsessed. Dad, don't go looking for trouble!"

York's tone grew harsher. "Claudia, do you know Cyrus at all? Do you have any idea what he used to do?"

A flicker of anger ignited in his tired eyes.

He looked straight at her. "Claudia, you have parents and a brother. Can you please stop gambling with your own life?!"

York's voice was sharp. "If I hadn't gotten there in time, what if you had been hurt?!"

He blurted out, "Do you know how worried I was about you last night?!"

Claudia stood quietly by his bed, waiting for him to finish.

Then, she looked him in the eye and said, "York, you were the one who told me that apart from my immediate family, no one would care if I lived or died. Including you."

"York," she continued, "that time I held a fruit knife to my throat to stop you from seeing Ann James, you didn't care about my life then. Why the act now?"
