No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 434

Gideon handed Claudia an invitation. "It's my sister's eighteenth birthday gala this weekend. You have to be there."

Claudia accepted with a smile. "Don't worry, Gideon. I'll be there on time."

It must be nice to be rich. She remembered her own eighteenth birthday; her parents had thrown a grand party for her. But when her brother turned eighteen, they just took a family portrait and cooked a special meal at home.

It wasn't that they couldn't afford a party for him. As her mother had said, they were just an ordinary family now. There was no need for such extravagance.

A few days later, on the night of Fidelia Harvest's eighteenth birthday party, Claudia brought her brother Eddy along. They rode with Rock Sayer to the Harvest family estate in the west of the city.

At eight o'clock, the three of them ran into Hugh Ferguson and his son at the main entrance.

Hawley spotted Claudia and immediately ran to her. "Godmother, you look so beautiful today!"

Rock Sayer gave Hawley a gentle pat on the behind. "Tell the truth, little guy. Did your dad teach you to say that?"

Hawley glanced back at his father. "Dad, doesn't Godmother look beautiful today?"

Hugh nodded. "Dr. Watkins's beauty is widely acknowledged, Hawley. You don't need to state the obvious."

Claudia knew Hugh was just being polite, but it was still nice to be complimented.

Eddy bent down and scooped Hawley into his arms. "Alright, now tell me, am I handsome?"

Hawley wrapped his arms around Eddy's neck, playing along. "You’re the most handsome man, even more handsome than Dad!"

Rock Sayer playfully tugged on Hawley's ear. "Now praise me. Am I not the most handsome man here?"

Hawley, young as he was, showered Rock with compliments as well.

Claudia couldn't help but remark to Hugh, "Mr. Ferguson, your son is quite the charmer."

“I know the guy on her right. That’s the Sayer family’s youngest son. Word is he’s a good-looking, wealthy troublemaker.”

From the second-floor balcony, York watched the scene unfold in the hall below. His dark gaze was locked on Claudia's smiling face as she chatted with Hugh, and his grip on the railing tightened without him even realizing it.

Beside him, Benton Harvest, the second son of the family, raised an eyebrow. "Getting a little jealous, are we, Mr. Ferguson?"

On York's other side, Peter chimed in, "Be careful with that jealousy. Too much of it can be fatal."

York's expression was dangerously dark.

Benton clapped him on the shoulder. "Well, you're here now. Might as well go down and say hello."
