No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 361

Ann waited for two days.

The result of her waiting was that not only had her wealthy supporter reneged on his offer to pay a hefty sum to take her abroad, but he was now demanding she repay the more than four million he had previously gifted her.

With nowhere else to turn, Ann went to find her mother, Laurel.

In a secluded corner of a park, Ann hid her face behind a mask and sunglasses.

Laurel pressed her anxiously, "Didn't you say he already agreed to a thirty-million-dollar gift? Why did he back out?"

Ann was pacing frantically, back and forth. "How was I supposed to know he'd flip just like that? The second I call, he turns around and asks me for money. What am I supposed to do?"

Laurel tried to soothe her daughter. "Ann, you need to focus on York Ferguson. He's the son of the richest man in Capital City. He may not have much else, but he definitely has money."

Ann pulled down her mask, revealing her bruised face to Laurel.

"Do you see this, Mom?" Ann seethed, her teeth clenched. "York's wife did this. That bitch refuses to divorce him."

She continued, "York gave me a place to live and is paying for Ethan's school, but for some reason, he won't give me a single cent. I even mentioned wanting to buy a new purse, and he just pretended not to hear me. I suspect he..."

Ann glanced at Laurel, stopping herself before she could finish the thought.

Laurel took Ann's hand. "Ann, it wasn't easy for me to raise you and your brother. Your brother is useless, so our family is counting on you."

Laurel added, "I know you feel wronged, but your sister-in-law has been fighting with your brother every day, threatening divorce. Your two little nephews are so young. Can you bear to see their family fall apart like this?"

"I believe you can make a lot of money," Laurel said. "When your nephews are older, I'll make sure they treat you with the respect you deserve. For now, you need to figure something out quickly. Help your brother and his wife buy that house and get settled."

Ann, flustered and annoyed, nodded in agreement. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll find a way to get the money."

After parting with Laurel, Ann hid alone in a corner of the park.

"Mr. Ferguson, I don't want to trouble you," she said.

No one in Capital City dared to take her divorce case.

Hugh had exclusively handled commercial cases since the beginning of his career. If he made an exception for her, she felt the favor would be too great to repay.

Seeing her hesitation, Hugh made the decision for her. "It's settled. I'll handle the divorce case for you."

As Claudia watched Hugh's handsome figure walk away, she ruffled Hawley's hair. "Well, since your dad is willing to help, I won't refuse. I'll pay his legal fees so he can buy you lots of treats."

Hawley looked up at her. "It's natural for Daddy to help Mommy. You don't have to be so polite, Mommy."

Looking at the little boy before her, Claudia couldn't help but sigh with admiration.
