No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 299

York gripped the handle of his suitcase, his eyes locked on Claudia.

He had been away for over two weeks, and upon his return, she couldn't even be bothered to take his coat. She was still in the mood to play cards!

Sensing the tense atmosphere, Wilma hurried over to take the suitcase. "Let me get that, Young Master."

The others, taking their cue, resumed drawing cards as if nothing had happened.

York handed his suitcase and coat to Wilma, slipped on his house shoes, and walked over to Claudia's side. His gaze landed on Eddy. "Did you get your result from last week's exam?" he asked.

Eddy just huffed and moved to sit beside Peter.

Claudia tugged on York's arm. "That's a question for my parents to ask. You stay out of it."

York's gaze shifted from Eddy to Claudia, his expression souring. "Get up," he said. "Let me play a couple of rounds for you."

Seeing him glance at her cards, Claudia quickly shielded them. "No way. I finally got a good hand."

She had been losing all afternoon. Now that she finally had a winning hand, she was determined to see it through.

Rock, who had once lost a fortune to York on a cruise ship, shot up from his chair. "I'm not playing against you."

Peter, who had never won a game against York, also refused. "Playing with Claudia is for fun. Playing with you is high-stakes gambling. Count us out."

If York joined the table, they knew they'd be fleeced.

"Actually," Cyrus said, a slow smile spreading across his face, "I wouldn't mind testing my skills against Mr. Ferguson."

Sensing an impending disaster, Claudia quickly took York's arm and pulled him toward the bedroom. "I had Wilma make your favorite dishes. Go take a shower and change. We'll eat soon."

York paused at the doorway, his eyes sweeping over the men at the card table. "Was it really made for me?" he asked, his tone sharp.

Claudia pouted, her shoulders slumping in defeat.

Seeing York emerge from the bedroom, Peter pushed his cards in. "Time to eat."

York noticed Claudia moving to push Cyrus's wheelchair and intercepted her. "I'll do it."

But Eddy was faster, already pushing Cyrus toward the dining room.

York stared after them, then turned to Claudia. "When did Eddy get so close to them?"

"They've been coming over to play cards while you were away," she answered distractedly.

York's expression remained neutral. "Your skills are terrible, but your addiction is strong. How much did you lose?"

She gave him a sheepish grin. "We were just playing for ten bucks a hand. I didn't lose much."
