No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 287

York turned to look at the two people in the dining room.

Cyrus raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Ferguson, you're welcome to stay and dine with us, of course."

York's intense gaze was fixed on Claudia. She sat quietly at the table, her eyes on the relentlessly ringing phone in York's hand.

The three of them remained in a silent standoff for a few seconds before York turned and left.

After he was gone, Cyrus asked Claudia, "Do you truly want a divorce?"

Claudia leaned in eagerly. "Cyrus, are you willing to help me?"

As she got closer, Cyrus placed a long, elegant finger on her forehead and gently pushed her away.

He picked up his spoon again.

"If you can completely cure my insomnia, I might consider helping you get that divorce," he said.

Hope reignited in Claudia's eyes.

She and York were worlds apart—whether in family background or what they could do on their own. She wasn't sure if she could pull off divorcing him. But curing Cyrus's trauma-induced insomnia? Now that, she was confident about.

Since Cyrus had made the offer, she had to seize this opportunity.

Late that night, in a guest room on the first floor of Grant Manor.

Claudia stood by the French doors, dressed in a dusty rose silk nightgown. From the moment York had used a business trip as an excuse to return with his first love, Ann, and their son, she had been shattered.

She had thrown herself against the wall of their marriage, breaking herself apart and nearly losing her life before finding the peace of mind she had today. But York still refused to grant her freedom.

Even so, he could no longer stop her from moving forward.

Her casual conversation with Cyrus tonight had made her realize something profound: the true value of a network is mutual benefit.

Sewell chimed in. "According to our sources in the Vance family, Mr. Cyrus is now confined to a wheelchair. If he had other options, he wouldn't have taken the risk of returning to the country and letting an inexperienced doctor treat him."

"I heard Claudia's specialty is treating persistent insomnia," Old Mr. Ferguson said. "If Cyrus is unwilling to make peace with the Vance family, then Claudia doesn't need to treat him anymore."

York stood before his grandfather and parents, his face heavy.

"Grandfather, Mom, Dad, I will find a way to mediate the relationship between the Grant and Vance families," he declared. "But I ask you not to interfere with Claudia's work!"

Late that night, York returned to an empty home.

The silence of the vacant rooms was unsettling.

In the master bedroom, York stood before their massive wedding photograph, gazing at Claudia in her white gown, nestled happily in his arms.

She used to smile so freely.
