No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 278

"Director Watkins, you can just drop me off up ahead. I'll grab a cab from there," Dr. Jesse said.

Claudia waved it off. "Director Harvest said all our travel expenses to Grant Manor will be fully reimbursed. Besides, your wife just had a baby. My driving you saves time. We're colleagues, don't be so formal with me."

She insisted on dropping Jesse off right at the entrance to his residential community before heading home.

When she got back, Claudia saw York on the balcony, on the phone. She went into the dining room and noticed a clay pot on the table. She touched it; it was still warm.

She had no appetite.

After a shower, she started gathering her things to move into the small bedroom next door. York blocked her at the bedroom doorway.

His face was grim as he took the pillow from her arms, then grabbed her arm and pulled her back into the room.

York tossed the pillow onto the bed. He looked into her eyes and asked, "If a husband and wife sleep in separate rooms, are they even a couple anymore?"

Claudia held out her hand, palm up. "Fine, we don't have to sleep separately. Just give me the medical report."

York took her hand and pressed it against his chest. "I'm right here. If you think something's wrong with me, check for yourself."

His words made Claudia laugh. "You want me to risk my own health? Who's the sick one here, you or me?"

She pulled her hand back and picked up the pillow to leave.

York intercepted her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "You hung up on me when I called you today. Why?"

Claudia knew she couldn't avoid this. She pushed him away and took two steps back, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Alright," she said resignedly. "How do you want to fight tonight?"

Claudia's temper flared. She shoved him hard, her eyes rimmed red. "Am I making a scene, or are you two just pushing me too far? You know exactly why!"

She grabbed her pillow again, her gaze now cold and detached. "From now on, we sleep apart."She tried to leave, but York trapped her in his arms. She struggled with all her might. "Don't touch me!"

"I'll sleep on the couch," he finally conceded in a muffled voice.

York let her go, bent down to pick up the pillow from the floor, and placed it on the bed before turning and leaving the bedroom.

Claudia locked the door and collapsed onto the bed, exhausted, pulling the covers over her head.

Late that night, York stood alone on the balcony, smoking. Mark arrived in a hurry. He handed an iPhone to York. "Mr. Ferguson, the nearest security camera was quite far away. While the video is clear enough, the external microphone's range is only five meters. Miss James's and Madam's voices were too low, so we couldn't extract the conversation."

"We've identified the woman who got into a conflict with Miss James," Mark continued. "She's not a hospital employee. She's the family member of a patient in the inpatient department. She doesn't know Madam."
