No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 276

Ann looked the middle-aged woman up and down with disdain. "What's wrong with you? Do I even know you? Was I talking to you?"

But the woman was clearly not one to be trifled with. "It's just the two of us here. If you weren't cursing me, who were you cursing?"

Ann gave a sarcastic snort and turned to leave.

Seeing this, the woman lunged forward, grabbed a handful of Ann's hair, and delivered two sharp slaps. "You think you can just swear at me and walk away? Not a chance!"

Ann shrieked in pain. "You crazy old woman! Let go of me right now, or you'll regret this!"

The woman, incensed, slapped her twice more. "Who are you calling an old woman?"

Passersby saw the commotion and quickly pulled the two apart.

Ann, being a minor online personality, was terrified of being recognized. She covered her face and scurried back to her car in humiliation.

What a disaster. She'd muttered a single curse word and gotten slapped four times by a complete stranger. The woman had even torn out her hair extensions.

Luckily, she had managed to protect her recently injected nose; otherwise, she would have been unable to go out for weeks. She couldn't believe that just by stepping out of the house, any random person on the street felt they could bully her like this.

Ann's composure finally broke. She gripped the steering wheel and let out two piercing screams. Once she married York and became the matriarch of Capital City's most powerful family, she would see who dared to look down on her then.

That evening, Ann timed her arrival and waited downstairs at York's apartment building. When she saw him get out of his car, she hurried over.

York noticed the swollen, red side of her face and frowned. "What happened to your face?"

"York, your family looks down on me, your wife misunderstands me, and everyone hates me," she cried. "What did I ever do wrong?"

York looked at the sobbing woman before him, then turned to his car, pulled out a tissue, and handed it to her.

"Go home for now," he said comfortingly. "I'll get to the bottom of this."

Her objective achieved, Ann obediently left.

York stood there for a few seconds before calling Claudia.

Claudia had just arrived at Grant Manor when she received his call. The moment she answered, York's accusatory voice came through the line. "Couldn't you have just talked things out? Did you have to humiliate her in public?"
