No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 264

"Mr. Cyrus's condition is stable for now," Oliver said. "You can try going in."

Claudia and Gideon exchanged a look, then took a deep breath and entered the room.

The patient's name on the chart was Cyrus Grant, but everyone referred to him as 'Mr. Cyrus.' Just from the name and title, it was clear he was no ordinary person.

Downstairs in the living room, Old Mr. Grant waited anxiously by the door, while York sat quietly at a table, sipping tea.

Old Mr. Grant kept shooting hostile glances at York from time to time, while York's own gaze toward him remained just as distant.

Hearing a commotion from the second floor, York set down his teacup and stood up. Gideon was helping a shaken Claudia quickly down the stairs. Behind them, Director Jesse's face was a mask of tension and fear.

York's eyes locked onto the wound on Claudia's hand, and he started for the stairs.

Claudia reached out and grabbed his arm. "The patient is having a severe stress reaction. Don't go up there!"

Meeting her insistent gaze, York relented and came back down. He guided her to the sofa, and Director Jesse performed some basic first aid on her hand.

Gideon turned to Old Mr. Grant. "Mr. Cyrus is extremely unstable. He won't let strangers near him. We'll come back in three days."

Old Mr. Grant's gaze shifted back to York.

"Only the two attending physicians should come," the old man said pointedly. "No need for any... extra people to tag along."

Gideon glanced awkwardly at York. York, cradling Claudia's injured hand, his face grim, replied, "If you don't want me here, fine. Refuse my wife's treatment right now."

Gideon shot Claudia a look, and she quickly pulled York toward the door.

When York ushered her into the bathroom, she threw the towel he handed her onto the floor. "York, what is your relationship with the Grant family and Mr. Cyrus?" she demanded again.

He bent down, picked up the towel, and said, "We'll talk after your bath."

"Why don't you just wait until I'm dead to tell me?" she retorted angrily.

York gave her a long look before turning and leaving the bathroom.

With the cut on her hand, Claudia took a quick shower. Afterward, she found York in the living room, carefully arranging items from the first-aid kit on the coffee table.

She walked right up to him. "York, are you going to tell me or not?" she asked for the third time.

Their eyes met. He took her by the wrist and gently pulled her down to sit on the sofa. Holding her wrist with one hand and a disinfecting swab with the other, he said, "Technically, Cyrus is my uncle."
