No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 235

In the bathroom of the adjoining room, York stood under the shower, turning the water colder and colder.

He pressed his hands against the tiled wall, his shoulders slumped and his head bowed, the sheer exhaustion of it all weighing him down.

She hated him.

Hated his threats, his methods, his betrayal.

York stood under the cold water for a long time, trying to clear his head.

When he entered the bedroom with the gift, Claudia was already in bed.

Their eyes met in silence. York placed the gift on the nightstand and got into bed without a word.

Claudia could sense his frustration.

She asked him, "Where's the medicine I prepared for you today?"

"Left it at the office," York replied.

"Oh," Claudia said, then turned off her phone and lay down. "Then just take a sleeping pill for tonight."

York was speechless.

He fought back his irritation, reached for the gift box, and turned to face her.

Claudia had already rolled over, her back to him. "I have to be up early tomorrow. I'm going to sleep."

York froze, still holding the gift, and stared at her back.

As Claudia's breathing became even and steady, York's expression grew darker.

With a sharp sound, he tossed the gift back onto the nightstand.

Claudia, with her eyes still closed, reminded him, "Trash goes in the trash can. Wilma is getting older, and cleaning up is hard for her."

York was speechless again.

Throughout the night, it was as if York's soul had been replaced. He lay awake, tossing and turning, his eyes wide open.

Claudia slept soundly beside him, completely unaware, and woke up naturally the next morning.

That morning, in the clinic's treatment room.

Claudia was giving Rock Sayer his physical therapy.

Claudia lowered her gaze.

She had used his supplementary card to buy the apartment, so he must have gotten the notification three days ago.

He'd actually managed to hold it in for three days before asking.

Claudia gave him a mysterious smile. "It's a surprise I've prepared for you. You'll find out in a bit."

She turned to go back to the kitchen, but York blocked her way, his face grim.

They stared at each other in silence, and Claudia sighed.

She half-coaxed, half-pushed him into the bedroom. "Whatever else, you're still my husband for now. I'm having friends over today. Do me a favor and dress up nicely, look handsome for me."

York paused at the bedroom door, his eyes filled with a complex emotion as he stared at her. "Do you really mean that?"

Claudia nodded earnestly.

York hesitated for a moment before going into the room to change.

By six in the evening, most of the food was ready. Claudia went to her room, took a quick shower, and changed her clothes.
