No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 201

At the crack of dawn the next morning, York returned.

Wilma hurried to greet him. "Sir, you're finally back."

York glanced toward the master bedroom, his worry palpable. "...Is she any better?"

Wilma's brow furrowed with concern. "She took her medicine yesterday at noon, but she hasn't touched a drop of water since. It's been over a day now."

York's brow tightened. "Medicine?"

Seeing the look on his face, Wilma asked cautiously, "Sir, wasn't it you who reminded her to take the morning-after pill?"

York's hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into fists. "Everything's fine here. You can go home for now."

Wilma stood her ground, hesitating. "Sir, I know I'm just the housekeeper, but I watched both you and Mrs. Ferguson grow up. Taking those pills too often is harmful. No matter how young she is, her body can't take that kind of strain."

She added, "I left the broth I made for her in the dining room. Please try to persuade her to have at least a little of it."

After Wilma left, York stood frozen in place, closing his eyes in exhaustion.

She had always loved children.

In the years that followed their marriage, she had tried everything, anything, to get pregnant.

Back then, he'd worried she was too impulsive, too young, and had made her take a contraceptive pill once.

From then on, he had always taken precautions whenever they were together.

But yesterday morning, in the heat of the moment, he hadn't used any protection.

She was angry with him, didn't want to carry his child, so she had taken the morning-after pill herself.

He stood there for a long while before pushing the bedroom door open.

The room was neat and tidy, and Claudia Watkins was unnaturally still on the bed.

York walked to the bedside.

She lay with her back to him, curled up under the covers.

York unbuttoned his suit jacket and sat on the edge of the bed.

He pulled her nightgown strap back up and carefully helped her sit up.

He draped his suit jacket over her shoulders. "Claudia, I know you're not asleep. Open your eyes."

From now on, he wouldn't let her run wild with her whims.

Claudia leaned limply against him, forcing her eyes open.

After a single glance, she closed them again.

Seeing this, York bent down, swept her into his arms, and carried her to the dining room.

He set her down in a dining chair. Leaning against the backrest, Claudia opened her eyes once more.

Looking at the lavish breakfast spread before her, she felt no desire to even open her mouth.

York made sure the broth wasn't too hot, then held the spoon up for her.

When Claudia refused to open her mouth, York put the spoon down, placing the bowl of broth in front of her instead.
