No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 196

Seeing Claudia's incredibly calm expression, the smile on Peter's face slowly froze.

He asked her, "You're so smart. Can't you figure out a way to make his life hell?"

Claudia just smiled at Peter. "I've thought about it. This is a dead end he created for me. The only way to break free is to die."

But she wouldn't do that. Because dying for a man like him wasn't worth it.

Peter stared at Claudia, momentarily at a loss for words.

Meanwhile, at Capital City's central plaza.

Ann stood outside the car with her son. "York, aren't you getting out?"

It was Christmas Eve.

She had worked so hard to pull York away from that woman, and she was not about to let him go back tonight.

York sat in the car, holding his phone, clearly distracted.

He glanced at the lively crowd outside and frowned. "Ann, do you really want my relationship with Ethan to be public?"

His question made Ann's face drain of color.

Regaining her composure, she quickly pulled her son into the car.

Before she was even properly seated, she went on the offensive.

"Why would you even think such a terrible thing?" she demanded, her voice filled with outrage.

"You're not his father," Ann said, every word laced with guilt. "To publicly claim him is wrong to your wife. I feel wretched enough. Please, for both our sakes, don't push me on this."

Seeing the tension in York's brow ease slightly, Ann quickly changed the subject. "There's hardly anyone at the park tonight. Think of it as a holiday gift for Ethan. Can you just set off some fireworks with him for a little while?"

York nodded, and Ann finally let out a sigh of relief.

The park was indeed empty that evening.

He dropped Ann James and her son off at the entrance of their apartment complex.

After the car stopped, Ann didn't get out right away.

"York," she began hesitantly, "Ethan's asleep, and... he's too heavy for me. Could you help me get him upstairs?"

The driver got out and opened the rear door. "Miss James, I can help you carry the child upstairs."

With her plan in ruins, Ann had no choice but to get out of the car.

It was after midnight when York got home.

At this hour, Claudia should have been asleep.

York entered the code for the front door, but just as he was about to go in, the elevator doors behind him opened.

Peter's voice called out, "Don't bother. Claudia's not back yet."
