No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 169

Furious, Claudia raised her voice. "That 1.5 billion was from selling my mother's jewelry! It has nothing to do with you!"

York corrected her. "But you have the money, and I have the jewelry back for you."

"You bought it back, but you haven't given it back to me!" Claudia retorted, her eyes red with anger.

York sighed. "Claudia, do you know why I won't give you the jewelry?"

"Because you want to control me! Because you're a bastard!" she shouted.

Faced with her irrational anger, York's expression turned serious. "Because your body is back, but your heart isn't."

He continued, "The day you start acting like the real Mrs. Ferguson again is the day I'll put this jewelry in your hands."

Claudia bit her lip, her eyes still blazing.

Seeing her slowly calm down, York leaned in and pulled her into an embrace, slipping a key into her hand.

"This is the key to the apartment in the city," he said. "Have your parents move back in."

Claudia pulled away from him and stepped back.

She put the key down and refused. "My parents have a place to live. If you really cared about them, you'd return the jewelry to the Watkins family."

York looked her in the eye. "You are the young mistress of the Ferguson family. It's not appropriate for your parents to continue living in that temporary resettlement housing."

Claudia turned her head away. "York, we're alone. Just drop the act. No one's watching."

Hearing her words, his gaze darkened.

He pressed the key into her hand a second time, closing his fingers around hers. "Claudia, I'm not discussing this with you. If you ever want to see this jewelry again, you'll do as I say."

There was a clear warning in his tone.

Suppressing her emotions, Claudia gripped the key tightly. "You're so good at persuasion. Why don't you go talk to them yourself?"

If they were doomed to a bitter end, they might as well destroy each other in the process.

York readily agreed. "We are husband and wife. It's my duty to take care of your parents."

He walked over to her, his hands lightly resting on her waist. "There's a private jewelry exhibition tomorrow night. There's someone I want you to meet."

Though it sounded like a suggestion, his tone was firm.

Claudia forced a slight smile but said nothing.

In York's eyes, she was just a tool. When he needed her to play a part, she had no choice but to go.

The next evening, Claudia made a stunning appearance on York's arm, dressed in a starlit evening gown.

York, in a black suit, with his commanding height, handsome features, and the added aura of being the heir to the top family, became the center of attention the moment they entered.
