No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 159

When Claudia woke up, it was already the next morning.

Shaking her woozy head, she dragged her heavy body out of bed, only to see York emerging from the walk-in closet, fully dressed.

York met Claudia's angry, hostile gaze and walked calmly to the bedside. "You fainted from low blood sugar last night."

Memories slowly resurfaced, and a look of pain crossed Claudia's sickly face.

York looked down at her, taking in her every reaction. "You should remember what I told you last night. Go home and think it over."

Claudia got out of bed, her pale face heart-wrenching.

She spoke, her voice clearly weak, "York, this is the only life I have. If you want it, take it."

York replied, "A human life is the least valuable thing in my eyes."

They stared at each other, and then Claudia turned and walked out of the master bedroom.

As Claudia passed the dining room, York stopped her. "I've prepared a cold fruit soup for you on the table. Drink it before you go."

Claudia pushed him forcefully. "You don't have to put on an act for me. It wouldn't matter to you if I died!"

York said lightly, "We're in the middle of a divorce. If you die here, I'm afraid your family will try to extort me."

Their eyes met, and Claudia's pale face grew even paler.

This was the real York.

Ruthless.

Utterly merciless.

As Claudia turned to leave, York once again reached out and grabbed her shoulder. "If you really want to go, have the soup first."

Claudia stood frozen for a few seconds, then walked into the dining room.

The cold fruit soup was sweetened, soft and fragrant, but to Claudia, it felt like she was swallowing broken glass, making it impossible to get down.

York stood quietly at the entrance to the dining room, watching her finish the soup.

During the treatment, the specialist had never contacted the Watkins family privately, nor had they exchanged contact information.

In her desperation, Claudia thought of Gideon Harvest.

She tried calling Gideon three times, but his phone was off.

Claudia contacted Gideon's assistant and learned that he was currently in Maronia, performing brain surgery on a high-profile political figure.

The cases Gideon took on were usually complex, with surgeries lasting anywhere from a few hours to over a dozen, sometimes even longer.

But her mother's condition was critical; she couldn't afford to wait.

In just a few short days, Felix seemed to have aged several years.

He looked at his daughter with heartache, his lips parting as if to speak, but ultimately, he couldn't say a word.

They stood in the corridor in a prolonged silence.

Near noon, Wendy came to the hospital to visit Jessica.
