No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 119

"Spend the holiday with you? Like hell we will!"

Eddy stormed out of his room, grabbing a small stool and advancing on York.

Claudia and her parents rushed to stop him.

Claudia turned to York. "Just go. I'll be at the Ferguson Mansion tonight."

As long as things between her and York remained unresolved, her family would never have peace.

There were some things she needed to say to the Ferguson elders, face to face.

Seeing that Claudia had conceded, York left to avoid further conflict.

After he was gone, the Watkins family had no spirit left for the holiday.

As noon approached, Claudia saw the worried looks on her parents' faces and didn't know how to comfort them.

In the evening, Claudia received a call from York and went downstairs.

The air conditioning in the black Bentley was blasting, and Claudia pulled her sleeves down after getting in.

York leaned over. "Is it too cold?"

Claudia turned her head away without a word.

York turned to grab a thin blanket and draped it over her. Claudia irritably threw it off.

York's expression darkened. He placed the blanket over her again, and before she could remove it, he wrapped his arms around her, holding the blanket in place.

Claudia struggled, her face cold. "York, let go of me!"

He tightened his arms, looking into her eyes. "Claudia, what kind of married couple acts the way we do?"

They were far past intimacy. The reality was, she now recoiled from a basic embrace.

Claudia broke free from his embrace and threw the blanket off again. "We've been married for three years, and the entire time you've been in love with the one you could never forget. While we were still married, you openly supported her and her son, giving them all your affection and trust. You allowed them to provoke me time and again. The fact that I haven't completely turned against you is a testament to my restraint!"

York stared at her profile. "Claudia, is that really how you want to see it?"

Claudia looked out the window. "York, you said one thing right in Ann's hospital room."

She had come home hoping to spend a peaceful Thanksgiving with her parents.

Instead, her brother's hand was injured, and her parents were worried sick.

Right now, they were probably sitting at home with a cold stove, too worried about her to eat.

Wendy kept putting food on Claudia's plate, and Claudia mechanically thanked her.

York took in her every reaction.

He passed a small tureen to her, removed the lid, and checked the temperature. "Mushroom soup, your favorite. Mom had the kitchen make it specially for you."

Claudia stared down at the bowl.

Her mind flashed to an image of York tenderly feeding soup to Ann in her hospital bed, and a wave of nausea washed over her.

She fought down the bile rising in her throat and stood up. "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."

With that, Claudia left the dining room.
