Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 946

It was just a rumor Bianca had deliberately spread back home.

The two of them hadn't even lived on the same continent.

But he had never dated anyone else?

Jude glanced at Seth in utter confusion.

Seth's gaze turned razor-sharp as he locked onto Dylan. "Is that the truth?"

"Yes," Dylan stated firmly. "I have no reason to lie about it now."

"Twelve years ago, outside the convenience store by Rivercrest Academy. Weren't you and Noreen publicly dating?"

Seth rattled off the time and place with absolute certainty, as if it were an undeniable fact.

Even Dylan, the person in question, froze.

He looked at Seth, then shifted his gaze to Noreen.

Noreen, who had been perfectly content staying out of the drama, was equally floored.

Twelve years ago?

Rivercrest Academy?

Was he talking about when they had fake-dated?

Noreen looked up and crashed right into Seth's pitch-black, intense stare.

The man's jaw was clenched tight, a violent storm brewing in his eyes.

Dylan finally remembered and hurried to clarify. "That was a misunderstanding. The area around the academy was sketchy back then. To scare off some creeps, I pretended to be her boyfriend for a while and walked her home from school."

"Wait, you were fake-dating?" Jude was dumbfounded.

That... was one hell of a misunderstanding.

Dylan nodded definitively. "Yeah, it was just a ruse. Halley Joyner ordered me to do it."

Back then, Halley had just taken Noreen under his wing and was extremely protective of his new apprentice.

Hearing she had almost been harassed by some thugs, he assigned Dylan to act as her bodyguard.

Halley even threatened that if anything happened to Noreen, Dylan would be held personally responsible.

So Dylan had played the knight in shining armor for a while.

"I'm sorry, but I have somewhere to be. I'll take my leave now. Enjoy the rest of your night."

She didn't even wait for Claire's rescue call before bailing.

She had zero interest in sticking around for this messy drama.

But just as she stood up, Seth grabbed her hand, his grip tight.

Holding onto her like his life depended on it.

Noreen frowned, about to demand what he was doing.

Seth grabbed a glass of liquor off the table and threw it back in one shot.

Jude's jaw dropped. "Seth, what are you doing?"

Seth didn't answer. He downed three full glasses in rapid succession.

Swallowing the last drop, he slammed the glass down and finally spoke. "I apologize. My answer to that earlier question was incorrect, so I'm taking three penalty shots as an apology."

Someone asked, completely baffled, "Which question? The 'being the other man' one?"
