"You can't do that again." Seth wrapped his arms around her. "If I'm ever in real danger, you leave me behind and save yourself."
Pinned between his chest and the wall of the tub, the heat of the water mingled with the blistering heat radiating off him, making her eyelids heavy.
But hearing his words, her eyes snapped open.
Reaching up, she grabbed a fistful of his drenched shirt, bunching the fabric tightly in her grip. "What the hell are you saying?"
"I said if," Seth clarified, his palm smoothing slowly down the delicate ridge of her spine.
It felt like he was coaxing her, trying to ease her frantic heartbeat.
"If I die, I die. But if you die, there's no way I'm surviving without you."
He spoke the words softly and slowly, but they burned like hot coals against her heart, making it seize in her chest.
She didn't say another word, simply burying her face deeper into the crook of his neck. Her nose brushed against his burning skin, inhaling his scent—a mix of cold water and faint agarwood.
"Did you hear me?" He gave the back of her neck a light squeeze, like scolding a disobedient cat.
Noreen didn't answer.
She just tilted her head up, leaned in, and kissed him.
Halley had sent up a change of clothes for both of them.
Seth cleaned himself up in a separate guest suite before heading over to find Noreen.
Noreen was currently blow-drying her hair.
Entering the room, Seth sighed in pure disappointment. "Such a shame about our matching outfits today."
It was the perfect opportunity to assert his dominance, completely ruined.
Noreen couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge him.
Seth seamlessly took the hair dryer from her hand, running his fingers gently through her strands as he dried them.
Noreen closed her eyes, fully enjoying the pampering.
Downstairs, lunch had already been served.
Halley instructed a staff member to go upstairs and invite them down.
Before the worker could agree, Dylan interjected. "I'll go get them."
With that, he stood up and headed for the stairs.
Noreen's hair was nearly dry by the time she finally asked, "Why did you show up out of nowhere?"
He hadn't even given her a heads-up.
"I'm just an unacknowledged secret lover. It's not like I have the right to stop you from seeing anyone," Seth replied.
