Seth tilted his head back slightly, his Adam's apple bobbing violently as if swallowing down some unspeakable thirst.
His breathing was chaotic.
Plumes of white fog escaped his lips in rapid bursts into the frigid air, blurring the sharp, tense lines of his jaw.
Noreen was stunned by his sudden withdrawal. The corners of her eyes were flushed, and her lips felt bruised and numb.
She wanted to ask if he was okay.
"Don't speak." His voice was terrifyingly hoarse. He squeezed his eyes shut, and when he opened them again, his gaze was dark and fathomless. "...Just give me a second."

Noreen was speechless.
No wonder he had been an absolute saint lately. He was terrified of leaving a bad impression on Rosalind.

By terms, he meant the boundaries Noreen had set.
Until she officially gave the green light, he couldn't take things to the next level!
Noreen's jaw nearly hit the pavement.
So... those soups her mother had been painstakingly brewing every day were aphrodisiacs?
No wonder his complexion had been so off lately.
And no wonder he had been so meticulously behaved during their goodbyes.
He was terrified he would lose control!
She had no idea how he had survived the last few days.
A sudden wave of sympathy washed over her. "I'll tell her."
She paused, then asked tentatively, "So... how have you been coping?"
"How do you think? Cold showers, or..."
