The sight of her made Seth's gaze turn predatory. A thin sheen of sweat broke out on his forehead as he fought for control.
His voice was impossibly raspy. "Are you hungry? I'll go make you something."
He tried to pull away, terrified that if he stared at her for one more second, he would completely lose his mind.
But Noreen caught his hand. "I already ate. I'm not hungry."
Seth looked down at her.
Noreen patted the empty space beside her. "Let's talk."
His eyes remained dark with desire. He took several deep breaths. "Can you give me a minute to take a cold shower?"
Noreen's cheeks burned hotter. "A hot shower is fine. You'll catch a cold."
"Heartless woman," he murmured.
Despite the complaint, there was zero frustration in his tone. The promise he had made—that she could string him along for the rest of his life if she wanted to—still stood.
He was gone for a long time. So long, in fact, that Noreen actually dozed off.
She woke up groggily, struggling to catch her breath as she was enveloped in warmth.
At some point, he had carried her to the bed.
The room was still shrouded in darkness, which only amplified her senses.
The crisp, intoxicating scent of his fir-scented shower gel filled the air.
Noreen let out a soft hum, weakly pushing against his chest. Tiny, fragmented sounds slipped from her throat, as captivating as a purring kitten.
The man didn't back off. He cupped her jaw, deepening the slow, consuming kiss.
When she reached up, her fingers tangled in his damp hair, the cool moisture transferring to her skin. His presence completely hijacked her senses.
Giving up on fighting him, Noreen melted into the mattress, letting him kiss her back and forth until she was dizzy.
Lately, his kissing skills had skyrocketed. He knew exactly how to play with her—sometimes gentle, sometimes demanding, shifting the pace just to watch her unravel. It was as if kissing her was his favorite addiction.
As the tension mounted, a soft, needy sigh escaped her lips.
