To soothe the fiercely jealous man sitting across from her, Noreen had no choice but to explain exactly what she and Dylan had discussed.
Sure enough, the moment Seth heard that Noreen had officially severed all ties with the Omniva Group, the dark clouds in his eyes instantly cleared.
The sharp edge left his voice.
He finally started eating his food properly.
His ruffled feathers were successfully smoothed.
By the time they finished, it was getting late. Seth drove Noreen back to her apartment.
The night was deep as the black Maybach glided to a smooth stop beneath the shadow of the trees near her building.
The cabin lights remained off. Only the dim, amber glow of the streetlamps filtered through the windows, casting scattered shadows over them both.
Noreen reached for the handle, only to find the door locked tight.
The man in the driver's seat had engaged the central locking system.
He rested one hand lazily on the steering wheel.
But his eyes, half-hidden in the shadows, burned with startling intensity. He looked like a wolf that had finally cornered its prey and had no intention of letting go.
"I need to go up."
Noreen sighed helplessly.
She hadn't come home last night. If she didn't show up tonight, Rosalind would definitely get suspicious.
Seth didn't say a word. He just unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned over, pressing her into the leather seat.
His overwhelming, dominant presence instantly suffocated the cramped space of the car.
He didn't kiss her immediately. Instead, he buried his face in the crook of her neck, his hot breath ghosting over her sensitive skin, drawing a slight shiver from her.
"Stay a little longer."
His voice was incredibly deep and raspy, carrying a tone of shameless entitlement. "That lunch really ruined my mood. You owe me."
Noreen sighed, raising her hands to push him away, but his large, warm hand cupped her jaw, tilting her head back.
