"One, two, three..." Lucien begins to count.
Nina blurts out, "Wait! What benefits do you want?"
Lucien complacently throws the proposal back to the table, with a demonic smile on his handsome face, "Dinner with me tonight."
Don't even think about it! Nina scolds fiercely in her heart, but she has to perfunctorily say, "I have to work overtime today. Won't we have a Saturday date? At that time... It's not too late to eat."
Listening to Nina's active mention of Saturday's date, Lucien is in a better mood.
His smile deepens a little, and there is a small flame burning in his eyes, "You're so lovely today, and you still remember our date on Saturday."
His tone is so intimate, as if there has never been five years' separation between them.
Everything returns to the starting point.
But this is not what Nina wants to see. Maybe she was really wrong to choose to go back home and return to this city.
Seeing Nina's drooping eyes, Lucien hooks his fingers at her, "Come here."
Nina becomes alert again, "What do you want to do?"
Lucien frowns impatiently, "Nina, can you not be like a hedgehog, and always stand up all the thorns? We haven't seen each other for five years. Can't I have a casual chat with you?"
Nina relaxes a little bit, "What do you want to say? You just go ahead, I'll listen."
Her words amuse him. Lucien raises his eyebrows and smiles. Just as he is about to speak something, his cell phone rings on the table.
Lucien looks at the screen and picks it up immediately.
"Ah... Nelson! Well, Dad's at work... OK, I will buy it for you after work... Daddy misses you too! Darling, listen to Paige well... Ah, kiss baby... Bye!"
She doesn't notice that Lucien has stood by her side and is looking at the photos with her, only an inch away from her.
Lucien looks at the photos and Nina at the same time. Suddenly, he finds that Nelson is very similar with Nina.
The forehead, the shape of the eyes, the soft lines between the bridge of the nose and the jaw are all similar!
He suddenly has some ideas.
"Lucien, do you spend enough time with your children? Why does Nelson smile so seldom?" Nina questions Lucien with some heartache. He is only five years old, but he always looks a little melancholy.
Lucien doesn't feel it at first. But hearing Nina's words, he blames himself, "I'm too busy. I really don't have much time to accompany him. But, I often buy him a lot of toys! The three children's rooms in the family are all piled up fully!"
Nina gets angry, "Lucien, do you know how to be a father? Can toys replace the parents' love?"
Lucien's expression is also a little sad, "I can give him father's love as much as I can, but Nelson has no mother. Mother's love, I really can't help..."
