And his grandmother...
Julien suddenly remembered her surprised yet relieved look when the old lady saw him six years ago.
Back then, he had just received heart replacement surgery and planned to meet Leaf as promised.
But Micah hypnotized him before he went to see her.
The hypnosis brought about an immediate chance. He lost his gentleness but acquired loftiness.
As far as he could remember, his grandmother acted strangely when she met him after his personality changed.
Although she was surprised at the sudden change in his personality, she hadn't asked about the reason.
Normally, when one's personality changes a lot, wouldn't people ask him about the cause?
They would ask him what had happened.
His grandmother hadn't done that. After the initial astonishment, she grabbed his hand and kept saying that it was good.
At that moment, her eyes were red and tearful. Those were tears of joy and excitement.
He had been confused by her reaction. Now he realized that his grandmother might have already known the truth. His character was acquired from the training of his mother who wanted him to be like Dallin.
His grandmother said it was good because she saw the change in his character.
The car accident a few months ago had brought back his former character a little.
Although his grandmother hadn't said anything, her eyes were filled with concern.
He had interpreted it as her concern about his injury.
Now it looked like his grandmother had been worried that he would go back to his old self.
Undoubtedly, his grandmother didn't want him to be Dallin's shadow again.
She had the same thought as Sydney.
That explained why he was so sure that his grandmother and Sydney both loved him.
As long as they continued to support and love him, he would not hate or doubt himself for being a stand-in for another person.
Then he would care less about what his mother thought and her impure love for him.
He could let go of his love for his mother because there were people who truly cared about him.
He straightened his thinking and got over it. He would not hate his mother. After all, she brought him into this world.
But he would not let Dallin off the hook.
Absolutely not!
He would let Dallin know that he was his own man.
Julien clenched his fists. His eyes were crimson and filled with murderous intent.
Just then, the phone rang in his pocket and interrupted the depression in the room.
He unclenched his fists and took the phone out for a look.
It was Zach calling. He walked to the desk and answered the phone, "Anything?"
"Bad news, sir. Dallin has come to Port City," Zach reported solemnly.
"I already know," Julien hummed.
He pulled up the chair and sat down.
Zach was stunned. "You do?"
Julien pursed his lips. "Dallin came to see Leaf, and she told me about it."
The situation dawned on Zach. "So, that's what Ms. Raines called you for."
He was there in the conference room when Sydney called.
Julien's phone was in his care. He was the first one to see any incoming calls.
There were laws, and the hundreds of thousands of employees in the two companies were innocent.
Otherwise, he would have found and questioned Dallin instead of waiting till this day.
He didn't think anyone could stand unconventional interrogations.
Kind by nature, he knew that the two families would fight if he disregarded everything and got the answer out of Dallin's mouth.
Those who suffered the most from it would not be them but the employees of the two companies.
Countless people would lose their jobs and go broke.
Although he was ruthless, the sense of responsibility and morality he had cultivated in his childhood forbade him to do that.
Otherwise, he might have exacted his revenge.
"That's good to know." Zach was relieved to hear the reply.
He was worried about Julien rather than Sydney.
Sydney's importance in Julien's heart was known to all.
If something happened to Sydney, Julien would definitely lose his mind.
"By the way, how did you know that Dallin came to Port City?" Julien asked, narrowing his eyes.
He hadn't told anyone about this.
"Did Dallin go to the office?" Julien asked.
Zach shook his head. "No, he didn't. The police called and told me that Dallin went to see Greta half an hour ago."
"So it is." Julien nodded lightly.
It was not surprising that Dallin went to the police station.
Greta was his daughter. Dallin came to Port City just to see her.
