"..." After hearing the secretaries and assistants’ answer, Luke was silent.
Then he understood.
The person who was hidden by Sydney in the lounge and was watching him there was Sean.
No wonder Sydney had stopped him from going to the lounge. She didn't want him to see Sean.
"Mr. Chase? Mr. Chase?" The secretaries and assistants in the office called out to Luke as they saw him standing in the doorway, in a trance.
Luke's eyes blinked. He snapped back to his senses. "What's wrong?"
The secretaries and assistants replied, "Nothing. We saw you wandering off, so we were worried about you."
"I'm fine." Luke rubbed his brow. "All right. Go on with your work."
Then he exited the office and closed the door behind him. He leaned against the office door and looked upward at the ceiling. He was deep in thought.
He knew why Sean was hiding in the lounge.
He had told her he didn't want to see her again, and he guessed that was why she had gone into hiding when she heard he was there.
'She remembers what I said. And she obeyed...'
An ambiguous look flashed across Luke's eyes. There were mixed feelings in his heart.
Sean had done what he wanted her to do. He should be happy.
But somehow, instead of feeling happy, he felt lost.
He felt so annoyed that he pushed the door to the assistant and secretary's office again.
The secretaries and assistants had already gotten back to their work. When Luke pushed the door open, they were startled. They all looked up at Luke.
"President Chase... What's the matter?" one of the assistants asked with a blink. Noticing the unhappy look on Luke's face, she asked in a cautious tone.
Luke clenched his palms, his voice low and muffled, "Is there anything wrong with Sean these days?"
'Has she talked about me or asked about me?'
Luke's face clouded over at the thought.
'Why do I care if she has mentioned or asked about me lately? I must be out of my mind!'
Just as Luke was about to say "Forget about it. Get on with your work", an assistant replied, "Is there anything wrong with Sean?" The assistant rubbed his chin in thought and then nodded, "Yes."
Luke was surprised. "Really?"
"Yes." The assistant nodded again. "Sean has often been in a trance and taken sick leave to go to the hospital recently.
"She's sick?" Luke frowned. "What has she got?"
The assistant shook her head. "I don't know. We asked Sean about it, but she didn't tell us."
Since the assistant didn't know any more, Luke nodded slightly and exited the office.
Seeing the door being closed again, the secretaries and assistants glanced at each other. They all had a confused look in their eyes.
Along the way, Luke looked preoccupied, like a completely different person than the one joking around in Sydney's office earlier.
Sydney was driving the car. She wanted to ask him several times what was wrong, but seeing the serious expression on his face, she didn't know how to ask. It was silent in the car, and the atmosphere was somewhat depressing.
Julien had arrived at the hotel where Dallin was staying. He was sitting in the car instead of getting out. He was on the phone with someone.
When he heard that Sydney had left Skylight with Luke, he frowned and then hung up the phone.
Zach also heard Sydney was with Luke. He turned his head and asked, "Mr. Flint, would you mind if Ms. Raines went out to dinner with Mr. Chase?"
Julien put his phone aside and glanced at Zach. "Luke did Leaf a favor. Leaf should thank him. I don't mind it."
Zach hemmed and hawed, "Mr. Flint, you're right."
Julien then ordered, "Find out which restaurant they went to for dinner."
Zach raised his eyebrows. "Mr. Flint, you just said you didn't mind it. Then why do you want to know which restaurant they went to?"
'Was he lying?' Zach squinted at Julien with a sly smile in his eyes.
Julien replied, "I don't mind it. But it doesn't mean I don't want to know where they are. I need to make sure Leaf is safe."
Zach thought, 'Come on. You're definitely lying. You're clearly jealous, but you won't admit it!'
Certainly, Zach didn't dare say so. He nodded with a wry smile, "Mr. Flint, you are considerate. I'll ask about it later."
Julien lifted his chin slightly and nodded. "After you find out which restaurant they are at, pay the bill. Then tell Luke I've treated him to the meal."
