My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 599

It was already nine o'clock when the dinner ended.

Anne and Bennett had been picked up. There was no reason for me not to go to the bar after I had promised my colleagues. Moreover, I was the host.

So, we went to a sober bar that was located in the city center.

There were a lot of people. We were seated on the second floor with an excellent view. From the second floor, we could see the stage performance on the first floor.

Pop songs were playing on the big screen on the stage. Three men, who seemed to be in their thirties, were tuning the sound system.

We ordered some alcoholic drinks and snacks. We sat down to chat about the olden days. Although the bar was not noisy, it was very lively.

With passionate music, as well as the enthusiastic men and women dancing below the stage, the atmosphere was full of liveliness.

Sitting next to me, Norman leaned in to me and asked, "Hendrix is Anne's father, right?"

Startled, I looked back and saw him looking at me.

I paused for a second and smiled. But I did not answer him.

An adult would not get to the bottom of things. Seeing that I did not answer, he also stopped asking.

It was boring to sit there and drink. So, everyone started playing games. Norman could not drink because he had to drive.

I seldom played games, so I lost several rounds and drank a few glasses of wine.

I was a little tipsy. Before I could react to the next game, I saw someone standing in front of me with a bouquet of flowers.

It was a boy in his twenties. In an instant, everyone turned their gazes toward me.

The boy was looking at me. Under the dim and multicolored light, his face revealed shyness. He said nervously, "Hello, my name is Culver Milton. May I have the chance to know you? You're the trending star, Sierra Noland, right?"

I was stunned for a few seconds. Then, I looked at him and said, "I'm not Sierra. You may have got the wrong person."

Culver was persistent. "You are obviously her. Although you're not wearing any makeup and looked a little different from when you're on TV, your beauty really stands out from the crowd."

"Don't take it to heart. Most beautiful people look very much alike!" Norman said and changed my glass of wine into juice.

I shook my head and did not take it to heart. "This means that I'm pretty good-looking as well."

It was just a harmless farce. I was feeling a little dizzy from the alcohol. So, I left with Norman after paying the bill.

Dropping me off at the entrance of my house, he said, "Anne will stay at my mom's place tonight. I'll send her to school tomorrow morning."

I nodded and pinched the bridge of my nose. "I'll go in first."

Perhaps because of Hendrix's appearance, Norman still took care of me. However, the care and concern that he was showing me was more like a brother caring for his sister.

A grown adult knew how to weigh the pros and cons. Hendrix was profound and steady. His methods and behavior were beyond the reach of most adult men.

Norman was respectful and also knew his place.

His care for me had turned from the love between men and women from the beginning to the love between siblings. Actually, this was the best result.
