My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus) novel Chapter 481

Celeste was in a sort of trance, her mind consumed with worry for the children, not realizing that she was the one most affected.

"Director, please, check... check on the kids... the kids..." Celeste kept repeating, unable to get up.

"Celeste, calm down, everything’s going to be okay. Help is on the way. The kids are fine."

Celeste knew she was being lied to because she could hear the cries of both children.

"My children, please, go down, get off the stage, I’ll get up, calm down, get down... Please, get down, it’s not safe..." Celeste said before losing consciousness.

The school director panicked and tried to lift the frame herself, but it was too heavy. Her fear grew when she saw blood beneath Celeste’s legs.

"My god!" The director screamed, covering her mouth in shock.

Ethan and John wanted to climb back onto the stage, but the director stopped them. A group of men arrived quickly, and at least six people managed to lift the heavy frame. Celeste was unconscious, having endured the pain while seeing the children, but she couldn’t take it any longer. She didn’t scream or show any sign of distress. The adrenaline had kept her from fully realizing the extent of her pain.

"It's all YOUR fault, John! I told you not to climb there..." Ethan yelled, shoving John.

"That's not true! I didn't want this to happen! You said it was safe!" John shouted back in response.

The two boys began to push each other, and two teachers quickly separated them. Both children cried, blaming themselves for what had happened.

Alden was in a meeting with company managers when several messages started coming in on the parents' group. He quickly opened his phone and saw the whole thread, his face pale as he stood up. Matthew noticed and tried to speak to him, but the young man only said, "I need to go to Ethan’s school. Something happened... an accident... with the kids."

Upon hearing that, Matthew immediately went to see Marcus, who was in another meeting with Frederick.

"Marcus, John goes to the same school as Ethan, right? Apparently, there was an accident. Alden ran out of here..."

Marcus, hearing this, didn’t hesitate. He stood up from his seat, took out his phone, and saw the series of messages in the parents' group. He became alarmed and asked Frederick to check on Valerie. He didn’t want her to get startled and try to leave the house—she had been bedridden for two days with some cramps, and she had been advised to stay in bed.

Frederick wasted no time and called the house. Valerie had already seen the messages and was on her way to the school, a bundle of nerves. A driver was taking her, and she just wanted to make sure her son was safe. She tried to avoid making any efforts.
