“All done. Looks like you’ll survive…” Alden said with a smile. “You were very brave.” 

As this unfolded, Ignatius took the opportunity to call Maxinus Palmer. This time, the call wasn’t ignored. 

“Who’s this?” 

“Mr. Palmer?” 

“Yes!”

wants to speak with you,” Ignatius said, handing the phone to Serenity. 

“Maximus?” Serenity said, her voice trembling 

“My girl! Where are you?” 

“I don’t know, Maximus… Please, come get me.” Serenity stammered, her hands shaking. 

She couldn’t hold onto the phone any longer, and it fell to the floor near Alden’s feet. He picked it up and said, ” Mr. Palmer, meet us at the Flavian Cemetery, by Peter’s resting place.” 

“Who the hell are you?” 

“Just go there. Serenity is fine, just shaken up. Your question will be answered there.” 

Marcus was speeding toward the GPS location where Serenity’s phone had been earlier, but he noticed it was now on the move. Serenity hadn’t realized she still had her phone tucked in the pocket of her denim jacket. 

Maximus quickly got into his car and drove as fast as he could to the cemetery. On the way, he called Matthew to arrange for additional security. He didn’t know who had called him, but something about the man’s voice felt familiar. 

“Serenity, do you know where Peter Palmer is buried?” 

Serenity, gazing out the car window, turned to look at him. 

“No… Who are you? What do you want from me?” she asked hesitantly. 

“All in good time, my girl, all in good time…” Alden replied calmly. 

Whether it was the car’s motion, the shock of her grandfather and uncle’s actions, or the uncertainty of being in a car with a stranger, Serenity struggled to stay awake. But the warmth of the car eventually lulled her to sleep. 

“Alden, what are you planning? Both her parents must be searching for her. This is dangerous for you,” Ignatius said, concerned 

“I trust they’ll know who I am when they see me,” Alden said, leaning back in his seat and rubbing his forehead. I never imagined my family was this broken. I knew Lucius had a bad reputation, but I didn’t think my grandfather was such a bastard. I don’t even know which of them laid a hand on my sister.” 

“Alden, you knew this. Your mother told you the family never accepted your father. You have to be prepared for any unpleasant reaction.” 

“I know, Ignatius. I just want to know more about my family. But they.. they seem so full of conflict.” 

“Well, at least she seems calmer now…” 

“How do you know?”

While Alden and Ignatius drove to the cemetery, Maximus called Marcus..

Marcus didn’t have a chance to ask questions. He pressed the accelerator and headed straight to the cemetery. After several minutes on the road, Alden and Serenity arrived at the Flavian Cemetery. Alden explained that he had 

ked Maximus to meet them there. He intended to return Serenity and take the chance to talk to Maximus. 

“Come on. Let’s get some flowers. I like to bring him lilies, but his favorites were freesias. I’ve seen peonies left here before. I didn’t know he liked peonies,” Alden said, extending his hand to help Serenity out of the car. 

“Where are we going?” Serenity asked cautiously. 

“We’re going to see Peter. Maximus will meet us there.” 

Serenity felt strange around Alden. It wasn’t the same unease she felt with Lucius. Despite Alden’s cold gaze, there was something about him that put her at ease. Once the initial fear subsided, she couldn’t help but notice the elegance of the man beside her, which left her with many questions. 

“Come on. I won’t hurt you, Let’s go see Peter,” Alden said carrying a bouquet of freesias. 

Still uncertain, Serenity walked alongside him. After weaving through several paths, she saw the young man stop in front of a plaque. Carefully, he removed the flowers alreally there and replaced them with his own. 

“I like coming here to see him… It feels like he’s here. I never got to meet him, but I know he was a good man,” Alden said, lighting a cigarette. 

“Who are you? You look familiar!” 

“Don’t you recognize me?”
