My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus) novel Chapter 1157

Valerie sipped her coffee while waiting for everyone to come down for breakfast. The family had decided to spend a few days in Coravela.

At last, Valerie had traveled through various places where she left a little bit of her grandfather behind. She had made a long list of locations, and Marcus, her loyal adventure companion, along with their kids, had gone with her.

Sometimes even Serenity, Alden, and Isabelle had joined them.

She was lost in memories—it had been 25 years since a seemingly ordinary day turned into a journey that lasted for years. So many years had gone by since her life changed in an instant.

She had to admit, her life hadn't been bad. Sure, it had its ups and downs, and she had suffered losses. The biggest one was Peter, and there was no denying that.

Peter would always be the man she thought she'd spend her life with. Even though everything seemed to be going well, they never ended up together. And even if he hadn't died physically, for her, in her life, he died the day he died. That was that, and she would always carry his memory with her.

"Mommy!" said John, hugging her and snapping her out of her daydream.

"What is it, my love?" said Valerie, sweetly hugging her son.

"I love you!" John said, looking her in the eyes.

"I love you too. In fact, I don't just love you—I adore you, my darling. You always have to remember that, okay, sweetheart?" Valerie said in a calm voice.

"I love you too, my beautiful mommy!" said the boy, hugging her even tighter.

"I love all of you!" Marcus said as he walked into the kitchen.

"Marcus, my love!" Valerie said, smiling at him.

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You looked a little tired, and today's going to be a long day—and a special one."

"Why special, Mommy?" John asked curiously.

"Yes, please... John, sweetheart, come with me. Let's go get the twins—I can't do it alone, you know how they tackle me."

Valerie watched her husband and son leave the kitchen. She kept sipping her coffee and hurried to prepare breakfast with the help of the house staff. Even after all these years living like this, she still hadn't gotten used to having help around the house.

Valerie's life was relatively peaceful and calm, except for some occasional stress from work and surprise orders.

Opening her jewelry stores had been a big success. She still had the magic touch—every piece she designed carried a little part of her in it.

Coming back to Hesperia had definitely been one of her best decisions. She didn't know why, but even though Valentia was beautiful, it never let her feel at ease. It stirred up a storm of emotions—mostly painful ones.

Valentia was where she fell in love for the first time, got married for the first time, got divorced, and got pregnant for the first time. When she tried to start over, she experienced for the first time the pain of losing someone who loved her unconditionally.

Valentia was a land of firsts, but even though she had overcome them, they had slowly chipped away at her peace. Hesperia represented a new beginning—this is where she arrived pregnant, where her first daughter was born, and where life began to sound different.
